Clarification: noted LAC would need CP3 long-term to include Minn 1st. Long term is opting in for the 12-13 season. which i'm told he will.
@RicBucher
Is this going down tonight? Even if Clips offer minny, that doesn't mean that NOH has to accept it... but that's definitely going to be the best offer they see.

Is it just me...
Or is Bucher a much more knowledgeable and sane reporter than Broussard
Isn't that just about every basketball "analyst" at ESPN?

I like Perez Hilton for more reliable facts on rumors than the ESPN guys.
"I gotta have more cowbell!"
Not just you
But nearly anyone can be next to Broussard.
Kaman, Bledsoe, Aminu, and MIN 2012 should be enough for Paul. If Gordon is in the deal, I’m not a happy camper.
Totally agree.
If Gordon is in the deal I say we pull the pin.
I would rather have Gordon for the next 4-5 years along side Paul for at least two of those.
We would have a very strong starting 5 for the next 2 years at a minimum (barring injuries of course!)
Sounds like its going down
Hopefully Stern sends his blessings!

That aside, I'm guessing the national media won't?
Granted a B.Griffin/C.Paul combination is nice, but I’m sure fans of the Lakers will be crying foul
Laker fans can cry all they want.
Lord knows, the bandwagoners have already started up with their usual “Sterling is cheap, Griffin is going to be a Laker, Clippers are the JV team” garbage and CP3 hasn’t even been traded yet.

I just feel bad for the actual fans.
The bandwagoners who make up the majority of the Lakers’ fanbase make the real fans get painted with a bad brush by association.

Don't feel bad about them period
It’s about time they get a taste on what we’ve been tasting for the past 20 years. They had Kareem, Magic, Worthy, The Logo, Shaq, and Kobe while we had only Bob Mcadoo, Elton Brand, and Corey Maggette. It’s our turn to rule L.A. The Lakers need to take a seat because we’re ready to explode.

"It's hard to be a Laker fan"
Read this on a Laker blog. Wept. Had lunch
hahahah
i know we havent been over even in a while guys, but let’s take some perspective.
We could have won 5 of the last 11 championships, made the playoffs every year, be the most widely talked about basketball team in the world, and have one of the best players/coaches of all time. THAT would suck!
BTW does anyone know when Clippers media day is?
Hopefully CP3 is here by then!

@RicBucher Ric Bucher
Snap take: if NOH gets Minn’s No. 1 pick, another 1st, EGordon, Aminu and Kaman for CP3, well, rebuilding packages don’t come much better.

If the Clips traded EJ to Hornets
I bet he would eventually find his way back to the Pacers.
"I gotta have more cowbell!"
my feeling too
blake and deandre seem to embrace being here. ej just doesn’t seem as happy. deep down he wants to play in indiana. obviously i’d rather keep ej and just trade the pick, but if ej is what it takes to bring cp3 here, i’m down.
I think he just wants to play in the Eastern League
Although I did hear that he would sign an extension with LAC
"Every existing thing is born without reason, prolongs itself out of weakness, and dies by chance" -Jean-Paul Sarte
Perhaps this was the case early last year
But my understanding is that both he and his family are much happier with him being a Clipper now.
"Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be." - John Wooden
i think gordon will stay with clippers as long as we will have him
if we trade him, he’s likely to bolt from his new location. Clips have had 3 years to convince him. NOH would have 1 year following him being demotivated by Olshey breaking his word.
Yep
If he goes to NOH, his homesickness would totally return. I think what’s keeping him happy here is that he’s A) featured prominently in the offense and B) on an up-and-coming team that’s big in the media (thanks to Blake).
"Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be." - John Wooden
No way that's on the table
Neil would barely send Aminu, Bledsoe, and Kaman for a 1 year rental. If he gets his wish of Paul exercising his option, he’s sure as hell not going overboard and sending as much as Gordon, the Minny pick and then a future first rounder just for an extra year.
by dulciusXasperis on Dec 11, 2011 7:59 PM PST up reply actions
I don't see how you go from neither the pick nor Gordon
to both plus a second pick. Do we object to adding a second pick to the offer without EG?
If this actually goes through
Can we all get some money together to send Marko Jaric a bouquet of flowers?
Yeah I am trying
They really think everyone will leave the Clips just cause they are owned by sterling.
They live in a different world, man.

Hell no

Yeah i saw that
Thats adds a totally different scenario now
Yep
Maybe thats why NO also wants EJ
"Every existing thing is born without reason, prolongs itself out of weakness, and dies by chance" -Jean-Paul Sarte
Then you give them the pick with no protection and you keep EJ.
Simple. Mistake to send EJ.

I wish Bucher would go to bed so I can shut it down for the night
and wake up to a headline from Steve that we got CP3 and kept EJ.
"I gotta have more cowbell!"
So does that mean we can keep EJ...
if we don’t add protection to the pick?
Clippers // Chargers // Rays // Boise State
"The Lakers do win games. But things can change." - Blake Griffin
How does that exactly work?
The pick only occurs once…do we just toss in a Clipper unprotected pick if the protection kicks in on the Minnesota pick? That’d almost be the best of both worlds for the Clippers…trade the pick only if its lost value…
Olshey, do what you gotta do to get CP3 wearing a Clippers uniform on Christmas Day
But that doesn’t mean giving up Griffin or EJ.
we’re cheap, like to drink and are pissed off.
thanks for posting that
my new wallpaper
please please please bring cp3 to the clips… i’m having daydreams of cp3 throwing oops to blake and deandre.
How do you guys do that??
It’s… so… cool…..
"Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be." - John Wooden
I'm getting worried.
Every where i read that its Kaman, Gordon,Aminu, Bledsoe and the minny
pick and this is making me sick to my stomach. I hope Hollywood O knows
we have the power here. Please Neil don’t fock this up please.
if this is true then we probably get okafor or ariza as well, though i would obviously prefer not to get grid of gordon
Newbie
I would hope we would get more than one of those two
I dont know who else they have signed, but even if we got bench depth back that would be helpful.
It's too much to be sending out it looks like we're bidding against ourselves.
Okafor is not very good and has a terrible contract. DJ puts up better stats. Ariza is alright
by dulciusXasperis on Dec 11, 2011 8:17 PM PST up reply actions
This is getting out of hand
If that’s NOH’s final request Olshey needs to say thanks but no thanks. That is a ridiculous haul for a CP3 rental…a CP3 with gimpy knees by the way.
by lbclips on Dec 11, 2011 8:15 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
It's a little more than a rental...
The next two seasons, minimum. I hope Olshey’s smart enough to just send the pick unprotected, rather than put protections on it and then have to give up EJ too.
Clippers // Chargers // Rays // Boise State
"The Lakers do win games. But things can change." - Blake Griffin
That's what NOH is requesting
IMO Don’t mean much
we don't need the triangle
we just cp3 to put the ball in the air and either blake or deandre to finish the oop. the triangle would be a waste of cp3’s talents.
Pass.
Not particularly a fan of VDN by any stretch, but if we’re talking about changing coaches, I would prefer going after J.Sloan (though I doubt he would). That guy deserves it.

you scare the hell out of me
there is no news there and nothing to make me believe Gordon is more likely to leave.
Sorry :P
Haha sorry to scare you and everything, but I’m just connecting the dots. Clippers wanted Paul for more than 66 days, Paul is most likely going for 2 years, so his price goes up! I truly hope Gordon stays!
But the Minny Pick was never involved
his price going up should just mean the pick.
this is a loser trade if we trade gordon
Deron Williams trade should be referenced and they didn’t lose talent anywhere near gordon. Favors, Harris and 2 picks. How are we giving over 2 picks, (1 that is guaranteed gold) 2 great sophmores, Kaman AND Gordon. This would be suicide for our franchise, we are being held hostage for being the clippers in this scenario.

the hornets cant do better at this point in accordance to paul’s wishes. we shouldnt be giving them the max deal possible, give them boatloads of youth but not eric.
and no team will deal with them for a rental unless it's possibly the celtics or maybe the mavs

Not sure about the new CBA
But, I was wondering what it’s policy was on resigning. I’m sure that if somehow the Clips got CP3 and kept Gordon, they would be over the salary cap (and yes with Sterling you never know what he does/who he releases), but would it be possible to keep all 3 of them? I mean we would most likely have to Max offer Paul, Griffin, AND Gordon… or close to it.
it'd be possible but Sterling would be paying for it in the luxury tax which raises a lot in a few years when he's never had to pay for being over the salary cap before.

but
we would have larry bird rights for gordon and griffin
and we would acquire paul’s in the trade. so we could legally do it. would we? i don’t know

To be quite honest
I’m not impressed by Bledsoe and Aminu. Kaman is already on his way down… But hey, I think I’m just biased, because to me, Bledsoe is way too out of control and Aminu hasn’t shown any greatness… Just my speculation
They're valuable because they both have a lot of potential
And Stern did say the Hornets have to get back young talented players….(Bledsoe, Aminu, and Minny pick fits the bill).

by ClipperBEAST on Dec 11, 2011 9:54 PM PST up reply actions
While I do like Bledsoe I do believe the deal to be an insufficient offer. Possibly Olshey needs to get another team invoived or ante up more and possibly receive a player or two back from NO
I think it is sufficent
Just because a top 10 pick in a stacked league is worth it. Also, the Hornets would probably end up top 10 themselves.
Al Thornton looked like a stud after his first two seasons.
Al Thornton will struggle to land on a team this season
al looked good for a rookie his first year.
the problem was he still looked like a rookie in the 2nd and 3rd year
Ya, but
Thornton was a very old rookie with not much of a ceiling, what he was in college is what he was in the pros, the Clippers were foolish to expect anything more from a 23-24 yr old rookie

We’ll see, I hope the Clippers stand strong and say NO Gordon
i'm not sure i'd trade chris paul for this 2 year rental deal.
say he uses the player option to stay one more year for 2 total. That just means when the season starts next year the Clippers will possibly be in the situation that NO is in with NYK as it’s trading partner (or some other top team CP3 wants to go to). I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle for a rental. I like our team now. Let’s play ball.
