Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

Team Award Predictions

Knowing how long I have suffered throughout the years cheering for this club, most of my friends been really excited to gain more insight on our beloved Clippers from me. One of these conversations led me to this post. A good friend asked me, "Who do you think your team MVP is going to be by seasons end?" My answer is below with a couple of other not so obvious team award predictions that I was curious to hear my fellow citizen's feedback on...

Star-divide

Most Improved: (Ryan Gomes) - coming of the bench will do the trick for our boy. And compared to last season, any bit of improvement will have him as a lock for this award

Biggest Letdown: (Caron Butler) - now don't get me wrong, I feel the guy will do just fine as our staring 3, but take in consideration his salary, his past success, and now his ailing body. Mix that with a stacked starting unit. I actually called this before the preseason games were played and I must say just as I suspected Mr. Butler's shot selection will be one of the many things that will lead to his undoing.

Biggest Surprise Success: (Mo Williams/ Eric Bledsoe) - i'm cheating on this one. after watching the preseason games (yes I know it's just preseason) I felt the need to add Mo. Mo is playing with a rather huge, but helpful chip on his shoulders. And if he can somehow keep it somewhat controlled and reserved when only playing with the backup unit, he will have a field day with other team's benches....thats if he can last to the end of the season....

Most likely to be moved: (Mo Williams) - the guy is not a bad player at all and that is exactly why he will be a trading chip before the seasons over. That and my hunch (as seen above) that Eric will continue to utilize his amazing athletic abilities to be the perfect piece off the bench that we need. The previously mentioned chip won't really help his situation either.

MVP: (Blake Griffin) - Paul is phenomenal. And will continue to be the greatest point guard in the league. But somehow that still won't be enough. We are currently witnessing potentially one of the greatest players of all time in Blake. That godly athletic ability mixed with his passion and ridiculous work ethic will have him claiming this honor throughout his career. Paul's arrival will only encourage this further by improving Blake's play. What's best is that Paul, I feel, will be quite fine with that.

I hope Mo isn't moved

I think that he is our most likely chip to move. But he is a great 6th man and will help us win many games. He can protect the lead and even add to it when provided the lead, but Bledsoe would NOT be able to do that. He has potential, but we are going for wins, not improvement.

Mine

Most Improved—- Mo
Let Down————— Butler (of the ones i expect something he is the most likey to fail)
Surprise success --Bledsoe (does Mo counts if we all seem to be seeing it coming)
Most likely to be moved—-Not sure if Foye is an expiring if so he, if not then Bledsoe
MVP——Paul (hard for Griffin to win team MVP when a teammate is winning the real one)

I'd agree with you other than

if Mo is the most likely to be moved… and he is…I’d slide Bled in as most improved. If Mo isn’t moved, I just dont’ see the PT for Bled, but if Bled gets on the court, I’m expecting a big jump for him. Otherwise I agree with all your choices.

Most Improved: DeAndre Jordan. He’s finally given the keys to the starting center position without having to look over his shoulder. He’s getting paid big bucks and knows that the team’s success will be greatly affected by how he’s able to perform as our lone big man and anchor on defense.

Biggest Let Down: Eric Bledsoe. Over the summer, I thought that Bledsoe would be a player that could make the biggest jump. Unfortunately, he’s rehabbing an injury and won’t be back on the court for at least another month. That’s a huge letdown for those looking forward to seeing him play and a roadblock in his on-court/in-game development.

Biggest Surprise Success: Trey Thompkins. We don’t know what to expect out of Travis Leslie, but Trey has shown that he will likely be in the rotation from the very beginning. He knows his strengths and his limitations and that only helps things. He took advantage of the extended lockout and got into proper shape, and I’m sure that he’s earned the respect and the confidence from both Del Negro and his teammates.

Most likely to be moved: Randy Foye. Mo Williams may be our most valuable trade asset (that we’d be willing to part with), but has a higher upside to this team’s success than Foye. Foye is an expiring contract that could be coveted by a team looking to shed salary.

MVP: Chris Paul. If this team’s win total skyrockets to what we’re hoping for and the media is projecting, then that will likely be due to the addition of Paul. He makes players around him better by putting them in the position to succeed. Blake certainly has the opportunity to have a very special season and put himself in the running, but it seems that he’ll defer as he has been in interviews. He’s willing to do what it takes even if that means he has to decrease some of himself to increase the team.
