Source: Kyrylo Fesenko has signed with the Warriors
According to Si's Sam Amick, Kyrylo Fesenko, 7-1 280lb center, has signed with the Warriors.
There are still a few centers still out there that can be acquired via the Clippers' Eric Gordon trade exception. It seems like the Clippers want to maintain some flexibility with their 13 man roster as the season goes on. In addition to the trade exception, the Clippers still have their room exception to possibly sign one of the free agents from China in March if they hold onto it for that long.

Clips are still under the cap at around 2.5M...
So they can sign a free agent for that amount or use the trade exception (but only in a trade)…
think the 2.5
is the mini-mid level, plus the TPE, or can always sign guys for the vet minimum.
Can we still bring on Benson? I think I’d give him a shot, and non-guaranteed contracts keep the roster flexible.
They are over the cap now
because of DJ’s extension. They have the 2.5 million exception and the 3.8 trade exception left.

That is what I am assuming
Clarification for my Fanshot:
Eric Gordon trade exception = $3.8 Million
Room Exception = $2.5 Million

Regarding Cap Flexibility
Would the Clippers have to use the room exception before the trade exception to use both exceptions to their fullest? If the Clippers climb into the luxury tax with the trade exception, do they still have access to any other mini-midlevel exceptions this year?

Luxury tax is a penalty
Clips are probably best off using the trade exception first since they can probably get a better player currently under contract in the 2.5-3.8 million range than signing a FA for 2.5 million. They might not be able to use the full 2.5 million exception (or have to dump a contract like Foye’s) if they want to stay under the luxury tax (which I think its 70.3m?)

Are they that close to the tax?

this seems pretty uptodate and accurate, unless I’m forgetting anyone, and puts the clips at under 65m.
If they used both
They would go over. I think SP mentioned it recently.

There goes our championship chances

Pick up Melvin Ely
Best available back up center for a minimum salary. Used to play for the Clips around the Odom era.
Oh, my inner cynic is back
A back up 7 footer isn’t mandatory, it doesn’t do a lot to persuade Blake to stay, and it doesn’t help at the box office. Donald may be done spending for now. I hope Olshey puts a lie to this.

Wow..
It’s not much, but I looked up Fesenko’s overall rating in NBA 2k12 and he’s a 43! I’m not sure what his rating in rebounding is but I know for sure it’s around high 40’s to low 50’s. Dan Gadzuric is waayy better.

As much as I love NBA 2K
Ratings are often times, inaccurate. For instance, Devin Ebanks rating is at 63. His mid range in the game is at 63.
Check out DJ’s dunking, vertical and block attributes. It’s laughable.

Having a backup 7 footer would be great, but its not mandatory for success
I mean, look at the Heat’s roster. They have Anthony starting at C and he’s only 6-9, and right now Haslem is the backup at 6-8. If Evans can give us some good and gritty hustle minutes we should be alright, though it would be nice to have a big guy in case DJ gets in early foul trouble.
I just think its idiotic to trade a potential 6th man of the year in Mo for a backup big just because pundits say we are ‘a little thin up front’.
more of a need in the west
Length is still a factor it doesn’t hurt to improve our chances any chance available. Getting a 7 footer should be a must at this point.

So is Ricky Davis
There are our backup big and wing defender. Lol

maybe they're preparing
some huge deal with KHAN…. that’ll send them Darko and Pekovic, for Ish Smith and Jenkins?
I'm guessing that if the guy signed for the minimum
we weren’t in the hunt. He could get more minutes and play on a good team with us. So the FO is probably looking at other options.
