In response the citizen Ricekrispy10's FanPost, I thought I would share a little data with the citzenry.
You all may be interested to know that traffic on the site right now is through the roof. As of today, one week into the month of December, this is the most active month on Clips Nation since June. That's right - a
month week in December has already surpassed all the monthly traffic during the lockout.
The lockout was obviously bad for business, but this site actually remained much more active than most - the drop off here was much less pronounced than was experienced at the vast majority of NBA sites at SBNation. And now we are on a pace that will almost certainly set a single month traffic record at Clips Nation. We have a legitimate shot at half a million page views this month - if everyone keep coming back (and brings their friends!)
So if anyone at SBNation was worried that the lockout would have a long term impact on traffic, that is not a problem - not in Clips Nation anyway. Everyone is back with a vengeance. So now it's my turn to thank all of you.
It's also a chance to give a shout out to the new contributors. Citizens John Raffo, Lawler's Law and LJ Hann have all done terrific work, during an obviously trying time for me. It was difficult for me to give up a portion of control after flying more or less solo for five years, but the results have been better than I ever imagined. Raffo has managed to remain consistent to the spirit of Clips Nation while having his own voice; Lawler's Law is an RSS savant, and has taken full control of the Daily Clipper and made it a must-read for every true citizen; and LJ Hann has made strong contributions in his first forays onto the front page.
During the lockout I asked for volunteers who were interested in contributing, and I'll say now, there's still room for more. Some of you I've already communicated with, and are on my list for contributing recaps once the season starts (which is not very far away now). If perhaps you were not around when that first plea went out, let me know of your interest either on this thread or via email (ClipsNation@gmail.com). In particular, now that you all know what the Daily Clipper looks like, let me know if you can handle that maybe once a week, so that it doesn't become a grind for LL.
Thanks again to everyone who reads and contributes comments and FanShots and FanPosts. Clips Nation is first and foremost a community. This blog literally would not exist without you.
