What About Rondo to the Clips?
The latest is Boston pushing hard for Paul and offering Rondo and Jeff Green (via S&T.... not sure how that works with an RFA as mentioned elsewhere on this blog), but NO is balking, wanting more young talent/picks and not keen on Rondo. Can't find a trade machine to see if this works (particularly cuz Green's salary is a ??), but the idea is this:
Clips out: Chris Kaman, Mo Williams, AFA, 2012 Minny
Celtics out: Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green, whatever picks sweetener they're throwing in
Hornets out: Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza
***
Clips in: Rajon Rondo, Trevor Ariza
Celtics in: Chris Paul, AFA
Hornets in: Chris Kaman, Jeff Green, Mo Williams, 2012 Minny, Boston sweetener
Not sure what I think about Rondo on the Clips (never really thought about it before), but I think Ariza would be a good add.
Thoughts?

Dang we give up a lot for Rondo.
You could do this without AFA

Also take off the Minny pick
If we give up that much, it’s for CP3, not Rondo.

I do not like the idea of giving up the Minny pick for Rondo. He is good but not that good.

Rondo would be a perfect fit with the Clips
If the Celtics would take Kaman and Mo Williams for Rondo and Jeff Green (or Jermaine O’Neal), I’d be all over that.
Works out for both teams. Celtics get a center with an expiring contract and a serviceable PG, and the Clippers get a PG who is a great fit and a either decent expiring SF or a washed-up expiring center.
Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)
Can someone enlighten me as to why Danny Ainge hates Rajon Rondo?
Is Ainge the a-hole or is it Rondo? Does Doc Rivers hate Rondo too?
They may have realized that Rondo isn't this good
He may be the perfect fit to this tim, but you cannot build a contender arround him.
IMHO, they know his stats and value will drop once the 3 HoFers leave, so they try to get the max from him now.

Rondo can be extremely moody
and often is a pain to Doc and the organization. He was also best friends with Perkins and some say his attitude changed after the trade.
"I gotta have more cowbell!"
His attitude problems have been widely publicized.
That could be the reason, perhaps it’s the elbow or maybe they’re just looking at maximizing their value while reloading for the future. Next year Pierce, Rondo and Bradley are the only players under contract. They wanted Paul and Howard, but Paul reported does not want to be there. They’ll probably still go after Howard and maybe even Williams. It’s hard to say, but if they’re not upgrading the position, and are still trying to move Rondo…then it’s more of a personal issue that they have with him.

I think it's a grudge between Rondo and Rivers
Some of the vets seem to have soured on Rondo, too, though they should probably shut up since he has been carrying them for the last two years.
I think Rondo would fit perfectly with Blake, EJ and DJ. A penetrating PG who plays great D. And his contract isn’t terrible.
I also think Ainge wants to clear the deck for 2012. The Celics will have a TON of cap space, and even more if they can move Rondo’s $10M.
Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)
Rondo's his only trade asset
Jeff Green isn’t enough and everyone else is on the wrong side of 30. Plus, I’m sure he realizes that Rondo works with the current team, but as soon as Pierce or Allen retire, teams the 4 on 5 thing doesn’t work so well.
Don't think we'd move the Minny pick for Rondo.
I really like Rondo as a player, but you’re going to need a sharp shooter at the 3 spot if Rondo is your point guard. We can’t afford to play 3-on-5 on offense.

Yes, that's the issue, isn't it?
Rondo for the Minny pick.
For me, if the Clips bring in a sf, maybe the Minny pick can be sacrificed. Then again, if DJ doesn’t return you’ve got to solve that problem as well.
Definitely not worth it
We need a PG that can shoot and spread the floor which is something Rondo can’t do. And I’m definitely not down to give up the mini pick for him.

My Trade
Clips Get: Rondo
Boston Gets: CP3
NOH Get: Bledsoe, AFA, Kaman, *Jeff Green, 2 Picks from Boston (Including ours from the Bledsoe trade that was given to Boston from OKC), Our 2013 Pick
Kaman can be flipped to another team for a pick and/or prospects
*Jeff Green the same thing
= Bledsoe, AFA, Up to 5 Picks
And we don’t have to give up the Minny Pick, he’s not worth it.

I don't want to give up our two youngsters and Kaman for Rondo
But good concept

I approve of the idea behind this FanPost
I’d love to use the Boston-NOH situation as a way to get Rondo and Ariza, or something similar. It seems like there ought to be a package that works.

Not interested in Rondo.
Well as long as Gordon and the Minny pick are not involved. He would be an upgrade, but I don’t think this is going to happen.
Nah fuck that.
I’d rather try and sign Marcus Thornton.

Upgrades at the point for the Clips and Celts
Rondo would be a major upgrade at point for the Clips. Why would the Celtics want to trade Rondo? Because they have a very narrow window to win an NBA title. Plus, it would give them greater flexibility next summer to go after Howard when they will be well under cap. Rondo is a defensive stud, doesn’t need to shoot to affect the game, and would pair very well with EJ. Where it gets crazy is how much the Clips pay to retain DJ. Plus, IMO it sets a floor for EJ when the Clips offer. If you were EJ, would you settle for less $s than Rondo?
If Knicks amnesty chauncey
What about getting him a la sam cassell

I would jump at us to get Chauncey Billups.......
Would provide a great veteran presence, is a clutch shooter in close games, creates plays for others and would be a major upgrade for our PG position.
I would even amnesty Mo WIlliams for him.
I think we’ve been down that path before and it didn’t work out the best for us.
I would expect him to sign a veterans minimum with a contender to try and get a ring…… he’s still getting the rest of his cash anyway.
What's your definition of contender

Don't like Rondo, at all.
He has a bad attitude, and while he racks up assists (with hall-of-famers), he can’t be counted on as a scoring option. Considering how mediocre he is from the charity stripe, the end of every game would consist of the other team hacking him and Griffin as much as possible.

Rondo is the most over-rated PG in the NBA.
For someone who wants to be paid like a tier 1 player, he has no jumpshot and is not a threat to guard. I love seeing other NBA teams guard him from 2 metres away daring him to shoot. If that isn’t an insult to Rondo, I don’t know what is.
Put him in a team with Allen, Pierce and KG and see how he goes…….not very good I suspect!
