Should we pick up Baron Davis again?

It appears Baron Davis is going to be the first "Amnesty" victim should Cleveland decide to exercise the clause. Should we pick him up (hopefully Veteran minimum contract) simply because he's familiar with our players and plays? He seemed to accept the distributor role the last few games before he got traded...he could be a solid option off the bench VS Eric Bledsoe. Bledsoe has time to develop, we could squeeze a season or two out of Baron.

I actually would...esp. if you can use as a trade asset in the future

only problem is that we don’t have roster spots and our cap space is tight depending on DJ’s contract.

LOL im all for giving 2nd chances

not sure DTS has the heart to forgive though

hed be great value

But there’s no way he’s coming back to the Clips. The Lakers or Heat (or maybe a team like the Celtics ) will add him.

Sad to say if he dos go to one of those teams...

I want Baron Davis to win a championship and be motivated again, but not with Heats, Lakers, and Celts. :(

i actually dont think this woudl be that terrible of an idea. like say 2 years 8 million or something like that. but yeah DTS hates him.

by hans007 on Dec 8, 2011 4:25 PM PST reply actions

No we have moved on!

Billups would be a better pickup.

by ENCUEROMAN on Dec 8, 2011 4:28 PM PST reply actions

dont think

Billups gets amnestied. They picked up his option just so they had his contract to trade.

Not sure

but if they did they spent an extra 13 million (or w/e Billups is scheduled to make) prorated for the games missed just to overpay Chandler. I like Chandler but he’s 29 and somewhat injury prone. I thought the new CBA was going to cut down the bad contracts, seems like business as usual.

Rajon Rondo would be BEST!!!

I’m not sure what we would have to give up to get him, but if he’s being shopped i think we could use a better game manager. Not to mention someone with Championship experience! he’d be a good fit i think because of his age/talent/experience

You think there's any chance he'd show up at less than 3 bills?

Has anyone seen a recent picture?

NO

I just got off the phone with EJ

hahah that made me laugh. +100

by hans007 on Dec 8, 2011 5:02 PM PST up reply actions

no

EJ seems to really dislike him… EJ will have a breakout year. And i agree that Billups would be a great PG for us, although he is mostly a great shooter and may be too similar to Mo

by DocD on Dec 8, 2011 5:09 PM PST reply actions

haha

I wouldn’t be against it from a purely talent stand point. Watch Baron at times last year was a ton of fun. But yea, we’re not bringing back a guy we just traded.

It will be interesting to see what teams would be interested in him. New Orleans is looking like they have a hole at the PG spot, and some history with Baron. But they might just want to see what they’re getting (if it’s true) with Dragic/Jack. Charlotte never seems set at PG and he’s familiar with that city, although I have a hard time seeing them bringing in someone and putting Augustin off to the side. As far as contenders, I always thought Baron would make a great backup to Rondo, but still not sure he’d want that role. Heat need a PG, but not another ball dominant player. They need a Mo Williams… Maybe a backup to Rose, and maybe could even play some SG alongside him?

i say no...

we already have mo, plus we need bledsoe to develop

by nauticazn25 on Dec 8, 2011 5:24 PM PST reply actions

If we keep saying we're building for the future with our young players

Then why do we keep trying to find old players to take minutes from them?

by Beasel on Dec 8, 2011 5:30 PM PST reply actions

Ok then...

Let’s see what you got Bled.

we’re cheap, like to drink and are pissed off.

LOL

then EJ asks to be traded

i think hes a great fit for the right price

but EJ seems to hate him, and EJ is my boy, so i hate him too!

by indy818 on Dec 8, 2011 8:26 PM PST reply actions

heres a thought,,, Baron to the Fakers to till up that spot CP3 held for 30 minutes

I believe they are a stronger team just adding Baron to that core than bringing CP3 in.

by big0lbad on Dec 8, 2011 9:03 PM PST reply actions

youre probably right.

although i almost felt that the deal helped the hornets enough that Howard to LA was inevitable.

I mean, its the Lakers. Luke Walton and a purp/yellow window flag for Howard is fair in their eyes.

by indy818 on Dec 8, 2011 9:41 PM PST up reply actions

but if howard goes to the Nets

by all means, let this trade go through!

can baron

see his toes when he looks down?….“good shape” for baron has a different meaning to others who actually care about their teammates…to baron, the filmmaker, orson wells was worthy role model.
