Why Caron Butler and Tyson Chadler were released

It is ironic that Mark Cuban is complaining about the new CBA...

The Mavericks have lost Caron Butler and Tyson Chandler with J.J. Barea not far behind, in all probability.

Mark Cuban said this evening that he, president Donnie Nelson and coach Rick Carlisle are acting in response to the new collective-bargaining agreement in making the tough decisions to let three of the Mavericks’ key players walk in free agency.

The lockout and its resolution brought an entirely new system to the NBA," Cuban said. "The new CBA changed the rules of how to build a championship team considerably. In the past being a tax team did not hurt our ability to make trades and improve our team. The new rules are the exact opposite."

now that he finally got that championship

Maybe Cuban is no longer willing to lose money every year.

The REAL reason...

Is named Deron Williams, a Dallas native. The Mavs are angling to put Dirk and Deron together next year. They have a bunch of big contracts expiring this summer and don’t want to add any salary.
