Still MJ

Even at almost 48 he’s more athletic than 28 year old Ryan Gomes. He would also get all the calls. Now over a season Gomes should win out as MJ will have a lot of injuries (and probably miss the whole year after Powell gets a hold of him).

A 20 year age differential is more significant than you think.

Like Olajuwon, MJ may still look great shooting around in the gym but it’s a totally different story during an actual NBA game (let alone 82). MJ would be huffing and puffing out there early on and sadly would not be able to keep up with the pace of the game. It would be embarrassing for him and painful for us to watch.

Unlike Gomes, MJ may knock down more wide open jumpers but overall would be a liability to the team, especially on the defensive end (which was his strong suit). Physically, you could sense him slowing down with the Wizards, including blowing some breakaway dunks when he couldn’t elevate. He’d be on injured reserve more often than Kaman.

I covered this in my comment

for a single game (or even a small cluster of games) its MJ all the way. But very little chance of a 48 year old making it through a whole season. But then again there are some freaks like Randy Couture, Bernard Hopkins, Randy Johnson, Mark Messier who have played in their respective sports at a high level even in their mid-late 40s. It just has never been done in the NBA.

absolutely MJ

I’ll take Hakeem over DJ and Kaman while we’re at it….yes, today

Me, too

Did you see the Clips of Hakeem working out with Howard? He could probably start for a few teams.

Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)

he's got skills

my all time starting five to beat all others: Magic, MJ, Pip, KG, and Dream

by banandy on Feb 11, 2011 9:34 AM PST up reply actions

That would be a heck of a team

I think Bird over Pip and Duncan over KG, but you can’t go wrong either way.

Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)

I have Pip and KG mainly for defense

KG getting shots off Hakeem’s post up is better than having Hakeem and Duncan in my opinion….that and having the trash talking element of MJ and KG to intimidate the other team would be priceless.

The best five that might be able to beat mine would be: Kobe, Lebron, Duncan, Kareem…and Iverson!

No way

not if you included Iverson in there. Also Shaq was a beast in his prime you have to have him on that team.

How about blacks vs. whites

Magic
Jordan
Kareem
Duncan
Elgin

vs.

West
Barry
Walton
Bird
McHale

Be a great game.

Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)

I put in Iverson

because he would be the toughest guard for Magic/MJ/Pippen to cover…

Yeah, Kareem or Shaq would be about the same depending on which Lakers fan you talk to.

MJ would be a top 10 SF if he played right now.

Funny how MJ was a SG when he played, but now he is a SF, haha.

He'll be a PF in another five years

Aging does that

Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)

He was a SF

when he came back on the Wizards.
