So this isn't a FanShot because I don't have the link to it, but Lisa Dillman tweeted that the New York Daily News (FWIW) reports Deron Williams wants to sign with NYK, DAL, or yes, the Clippers in 2012.
Can we make a serious run at him now? Deron could tell the Jazz he has no intention of staying, if that isn't already clear. Wouldn't the Jazz want to avoid a year like DEN is having? More importantly, does D-Will feel a pressure to get out now before being branded a Coach Killer forever?
Would the following package be at all possible?
Baron, Kaman, Aminu, and the Minny Pick for D-Will and Okur? Baron is avergaing nearly 20-10 over the last six games, his value should be pretty high despite his contract. While a trade to UTAH would never happen as Baron is nowhere near a "Jerry Sloan-type" player, that doesn't matter anymore.
Kaman allows them to move Al Jefferson to his natural 4 spot and bring Millsap off the bench. They get a pretty good prospect to replace AK-47 at the 3, and most importantly, a high lotto pick to hopefully score a new franchise player.
I have litte doubt, even with Sterling, that D-Will would re-up to play with Blake and EJ in Hollywood.
Thoughts? Would anyone be willing to include Gordon in the deal?
