ESPN Source: Clippers buy out Rasual Butler
If this source is true, It is too bad it could not work out better for Butler on the Clippers this year. It is also interesting that Butler wasn't traded to the Bulls before the trade deadline.
Still, I will always remember things like Butler's big three against the Celtics last year and some of the games where he just couldn't miss. Thank you for your contributions to the LA Clippers Rasual Butler.

His game last year against the Cavs was amazing
It’s what I will remember most.

Good Luck to Butler!
At least he will sign with the Bulls (probably for vets minimum)!
We are the Clippers! What else is new?
Lisa Dillman's Twitter Confirms:
Person with knowledge of talks said Rasual Butler has not been waived yet but that it should happen between now and tomorrow am.
Bucher report correct according to people on this end. And yes, it appears as CHI will be the destination.

Adios!
So long to a good Clipper. Would have been nice if he had shot better and done more, especially after getting so many opportunities last season. More savings and profit for DTS here? Have to assume so.
if just waived him i dont think the Clips save anything.

A little
Not a lot of money, but DTS likes to keep an eye on every little bit.
It’s just about the terms of the buyout, right? Assuming they’re not going to pay Butler through the end of the year. So the “buyout” means they stop paying him, while Chicago starts paying him.
Also assuming that Mo+Moon equals Baron. But Moon’s deal is up at the end of the season.
It’s not about the money. It’s about keeping Willie Warren on the roster, and letting Butler go to a contending team.

I believe
Butler can agree to take less in exchange for being released early. If they outright waive him the Clips still have to pay him the full contract amount UNLESS some other team picks him up after he clear waivers. In that case that team can pick up Rasual for the prorated veterans minimum.

I doubt it was to save money
It’s more about opening a roster spot for some flexibility. The 2-for-1 deal put them at the max of 15.
good luck to Butler
The last time the Clips bought out a vet that guy won a championship … good luck to Sool I think he did a decent job last year.

I think if he goes to the Bulls, he'll get some good minutes...
Good luck Sool!

Right thing for the clips to do
clips get a roster spot and Sool gets to go play for a playoff team that could use him (if he gets his shooting stroke back).

Interesting
The Bulls have Korver, who is a better shooter and Brewer, who is a better defender. And they start Bogans, though I don’t understand why. How does Sool fit? Oh well, hope he does so we can root for him in the playoffs.
Why do we need to do this if we're losing anyway?
Why do we need to save 200k?
Why would we help another team for no reason?
It opens up a roster spot for when Eric Gordon comes back. It also allows us to keep Willie Warren on the team.

Every team does it. No point of holding a player hostage when he can play for another team and contribute.
It’s more out of courtesy and respect for player. I’m sure if the Clips were in playoff contention, they wouldn’t have let him go. You’ll see a lot of these type of “buyouts” in the coming days.

They needed to do this to have space to sign Jordan and Gordon
Its really cool how Butler was willing to change his contract to facilitate this.
