In reading today's paper, Lisa Dillman talks to Eric Bledsoe about playing in the Rookie Challenge. Among topics of discussion is Blake Griffin in the slam dunk contest. She asks Bledsoe if he has any idea what Blake will do. Bledsoe responds by saying, "I have no clue. He's going to surprise me...just try take the rim down. He'll probably try to take it home with him."
This got me thinking that Bledsoe is onto something here. Not necessarily tearing down the rim, but he could do it with a prop. Now I don't know what the rules for the dunk contest, or actually think there are any other than the basics of how scoring will take place, but anyone remember those $1.99 hoops you could attach to your door with suction cups? I think Blake should have a custom one made that is a little stronger, but a regulation size hoop that he can attach to the backboard at say 12' high. Then, whatever dunk he does, he does it through the rim at 12', and can pull it off the backboard to continue the dunk through the regulation hoop at 10'. There are only so many dunks that can be performed, and we have pretty much seen them all. The only thing left is creativity and props. This one shows just how high Blake can get with one of his monster jams!!! Anyways with whatever he does, it will be sure to WOW us like always!!
