Great game from Boom.

He played great, he had a critical 3 in the last seconds

Cav fans seems to be happy that they got him, so I’m having a bit of doubts about Mo

He was pretty bad for them this year

It doesn’t surprise me they would feel that way, but I’m not sure they are correct.

I guess a change in scenery can also change a players game!

Definitely

If the reason he was playing poorly is because he was sandbagging. Though, I’m not sure that’s a good sign for the team receiving that player.

by John R on Mar 4, 2011 9:41 PM PST up reply actions

Sandbagger for sandbagger

That’s how Baron freed himself from the Hornets, and isn’t too far from the behavior he displayed his first season in LA.

Certainly possible

Though I don’t see him as sandbagging the last two seasons.

by John R on Mar 4, 2011 9:46 PM PST up reply actions

Some say he sandbag during last yes playoffs

Agree about season 2 for sure

Season 3 was a mixed bag. Didn’t seem to have showed up ready to go, but certainly seemed engaged once he returned from his injury.

Try again.

Baron stats show he provided the same production as last season but had none of the weapons EJ was no where near the player he is now still had a huge void at SF and Kaman was not as good as Griffin or even close.

If you think Kaman has an all star year without Baron having a productive year getting the team involved your kidding youself and need to quit.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit

I said I agreed with John R that Baron played well in Season 2 of his contract. You need to “try again” smart guy.

The only reason he play good (I assume)

Is because it was his debut at the MSG in front of Jessica Alba!

Hope they're not counting on him to go 4-7 from deep every night

Why not?

Baron has a better overall and 3pt percentage than Mo has this season. Just say’in.

by clipper*joe on Mar 4, 2011 10:03 PM PST up reply actions

Small sample sizes

Mo’s career #s much better than Baron’s.

by boltsfan21 on Mar 4, 2011 10:07 PM PST up reply actions

We're getting the current Mo, not the career average MO.

I agree to an extent but a season average is sample size in and of itself. If we’re talking about who has the better averages in their careers, I’d agree. But as of this season, Baron is hitting more shots at a better rate.

And just like career averages, they evolve every season based on the season sample. So, IMO, a season sample is sufficient to say Baron is shooting better than Mo right now.

by clipper*joe on Mar 4, 2011 10:23 PM PST up reply actions

Fair enough

But Baron still isn’t going to average 57% from deep.

Hold up just a sec...

We are comparing Month with this years numbers to Baron’s? Mo was playing with a high percentage when he had other players on his team that had good talent. This year he was #1 in command, he drew the defenses focus this year. Big difference. Last year he had a whole bunch of talent to spread the defense giving him a little wiggle room. This time he is now again on a team with a lot of talent giving him more room so we should expect to see numbers similar to when times where like that before for him. There is talent on this team that has him tied for 3rd for pecking order.

Nice win for the Cavs

Win - win situation is always the best.

I really like the trade for Clips and I’m also happy for Baron who played well today at Cavs… hope changing teams can benefit both Mo and Baron.

by Justbball on Mar 4, 2011 10:36 PM PST reply actions

win-win is right

Questioning Mo’s value based on his production in Cleveland this year compared to Davis and his type of game is like wondering why your Ferrari doesn’t race well in the baja classic or why your dune buggy keeps finishing last in Formula races. Baron’s game is best for a team where he is the man (not necessarily meaning the ONLY man, like in Clevland) and Mo’s is best for a team with more options and he just adds to it.

+1

Let’s not judge Baron by one game in MSG. Baron has as good of innate PG skills as anybody in the league! But I seriously doubt if his body (or his head) will hold up next year. Do we really think Baron will play hard in freezing Cleveland in midseason or not clash again with Byron Scott? Mo may not be the long term solution for the Clips but evolving the Clips w/o Baron ($$) is in my opinion a necessary move for the future.

Baron is playing no different than he was with us on the road trip...

Baron was our most consistent player during our 11 games road trip. Too bad the other guys didn’t come to play.

And why is it that people keep bringing up the weather as a way to diminish Baron? Are they playing or practicing outside Q? I think the fact that the Cavs almost sell-out every game is motivation enough for baron to put out his best there. They have the worst team in the league yet, they play to almost a full house every night. Seems like a lot of people keep taking talking points from BSPN and the blogs.

Look at us, we have the newest darling and the next big thing in the nba. Yet, we seem to never sell-out unless we have a good team coming to town.

baron has his best years when he has talent around him

His best days in GSW were with Ellis and Jackson. He had a solid year with Camby and Kaman but he had a stronger year with New Gordon and Griffin. Give Baron two talented offensive players and he can make some manic happen.

@ least he's still rocking he same Clippers Li-Nings

exept those are the BD1’s not the new Defends they were giving away at Staples…

correct me if i’m wrong…but weren’t they suppose to give some out during the home game against the Rockets? heard it once before the trade deadline…

and never again after

well I did hear about some giveaway for the Rockets game…but i think it was a read to achieve gift bag? or something.

I wonder what happens to all the Baron Davis Li-Nings at the TeamLA store?

Remember when a Chinese company was interested in buying the Cavs?

That was when LeBron was still there, so I’m not sure how interested they still are, but perhaps bring Baron in has something to do with it.

Good game from Baron perhaps with a little fool's gold

A Cavs fan should obviously not bank on the 4-7 from 3 point range. And the fact that he took 15 shots and 7 3’s in 26 minutes on the floor is telling of what he intends to do when he’s on the floor. He was obviously motivated to make a good impression with his new team. Especially given some of the backlash that was out there regarding him not wanting to play in Cleveland. I’m a little wary on how long it lasts. I mean he is playing with JJ Hickson, Alonzo Gee, Samardo Samuels, Luke Harangody, Manny Harris and Christian Eyenga. It appears he is ready to embrace the veteran leader role right now given his performance and some of the interviews I’ve seen. Still this team won’t be anything close to good in the next couple of years. I’ll be watching more Cavs games to see what Baron brings every night.
Also the Cavs went with a Sessions, Davis backcourt a few times including down the stretch. And it worked really well. Both of those guys were driving and getting easy baskets for themselves and teammates. I’m excited to see those two get more minutes together. Oh what could have been I suppose.

by Beasel on Mar 5, 2011 1:21 AM PST reply actions

Actually, you read the statline incorrectly...

He took 15 shots total. 7 of the 15 were from the arc. 15 total shots in 26 minutes.

by clipper*joe on Mar 5, 2011 10:26 AM PST up reply actions

IDK...

15 shots AND 7 3’s implies 15 shot AND 7 3’s

15 and 7 implies addition.
Just say’in

Baron went 4-7 last night, too

8-14 so far as a Cav.

Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)
