As you may have noticed, Dwayne Casey was announced as the official head coach of the Toronto Raptors. This is the same guy who, aside from Vinny Del Negro, was the leading candidate for the vacant coaching position with the Clippers last year. We all know how the vacancy was filled: Del Negro wooed the Clippers FO and Casey was forced to return to his old job as the assistant head coach for the Dallas Mavericks, who by the way, just won the NBA title. Now, although Rick Carlisle deserves the bulk of the credit as head coach, I feel that Casey made a huge contribution to the Mavs' title run - clearly something the Raptors can agree with. It is very likely that the defensive-minded coach, Dwayne Casey, played the primary role in orchestrating the Mavs' defensive scheme, which helped shut down Lebron James in the later stages of the series, kept the rest of the Heat at bay, and eventually brought home the title.
This post must be painfully boring and pointless, however I just wanted to point out my personal opinion that the Clippers should have hired Dwayne Casey while they had the chance! Anyways, I am happy he finally got his shot at redemption, and I still have some faith left in Del Negro, although it really bothered me that he didn't have more faith in Al Farouq Aminu.
Here's to another Clipper season..
Go clippers...
