Pincus expects both second rounders to make the roster
Wait a second, I thought Olshey said we don't need any more kids...
So with both second rounders making it, I count 12 for the roster next season already locked up? 13 if they pick up Warren?

wow thats a lot of trash on the roster
Warren, Leslie and Thompkins. Throw in the useless Gomes, Foye and Cook(why did he get two years again?). Also got the green Aminu and Bledsoe. Man the rotation is not looking good right now without some trades. We got 5 legit rotation guys and a bunch of filler and prospects.

Last i Checked, there's 15 spots on a roster
So there’s still room, and further moves later on. We are not even in July yet.
This is going to be my team, and we're going to rise together.

according to this
That’s 13 players on the roster already. They usually only carry 14. Im guessing only two of the three 2nd round picks make it and they sign two free agents.

Foye's not trash
What about all the big shots he made? He had a slow start, so he’s numbers from last year are a bit skewed, but he was a valuable part of the team for the 2nd half. Something will probably go down later…there’s 15 spots on the roster…these guys will just be on the IL.
This is going to be my team, and we're going to rise together.

foye is junk
If you shoot enough times some are bound to go in. Its not hard to find sub. 400 shooters who can’t rebound or get assists either.

i tend to agree with this.
but i think that this perspective, CC, undervalues Foye’s (and similar players) willingness to take “big” shots.
it took EJ what, 3 years, to be able to get off a crunch time shot.
… whatever that’s worth.

Lots of guys are willing to take big shots
Baron and Mo have no problem either. We should probably look at how often they make these “big” shots than rather they are willing to take them.

i'm not willing to look into how often the shots are made.
nevertheless, you make a good point.

+1
The mere fact that we are touting Foye as our best bench player is depressing.
Proud member of Club FTR. falconPUNCH! for president!
As Clipperchuck says we have 5 or 6 quality players
Mo, Blake, Kaman, DJ, EJ
Foye is rotation standard, but is definitely not good enough to be a 6th man; too inconsistent.
More than anything else, this year depends on Aminu and Bledsoe: if they develop, we have a nice bench, but if not, our key guys will get exhausted and overburdened.
building a good team isn't that hard
5 good starters playing their best positions, 1 big, 1 medium 1 small off the bench.
Going back to my save the Clippers 2011 season blueprint
SG – EJ
PG – Mo
C – DJ
PF – Griffin
SF – Iguodala
Bench – Kwame, JR Smith, Sessions
Prospects – Aminu, Bledsoe, Thompkins, Leslie, Warren
Free to good any home – Foye, Cook, Gomes

The problem is that we dont have the money for that
Smith will want a lot, and I dont care for his attitude, or for his ball hogging ways. He is actually an extremely good passer, but he doesnt do it enough.
Kwame Brown is a very interesting choice to backup DJ, and one I can actually agree with. Since his huge bust with the Lakers, he has actually had a few not very poor seasons.
Sessions is also too much money if we get Iggy, and I dont want him anyway. Having him on the Cavs is bad enough.
I didn't put all the footnotes in
trading Foye (expiring) and a 2nd round pick for Sessions (Sessions make like 600,000 more)
Trading Kaman with Aminu and Bledsoe (if the 76ers would take this package) would even out
Clips reportedly have 12 million in salary cap space, if we cut it to 8 million with the lowered post-CBA cap that leaves enough to give JR Smith the MLE and then throw whatever is left at a Kwame (or some other veteran C) type C to get minutes.

The Cavs would probably want more than that for Sessions
JR Smith will want more than the MLE imo, even if he doesnt deserve it. Besides, the MLE probably wont remain in the new CBA.
There will be an LLE- low level exception.
Would you agree that, had BD come into last season healthy and ready to play, the Clippers would have been at least in the playoff hunt?
I believe that to be true. I don’t know what you do for a living but I highly doubt that it mimics the position of NBA GM. There are so many different variables in play (players, agents, owners, opposing GMs, fans, media and their respective personalities) that to say building a good team isn’t that hard is just silly.
It is certainly fair to scrutinize the FO but without knowing what you do for a living, I feel confident saying that there are plenty of guys who do what you do much better than you do it. Be glad that you don’t have thousands of people following you around telling you that your job isn’t that hard and throwing your failed attempts at success in your face.
I have to eat my mistakes at work every week and am surrounded by guys who are better than me at different aspects of my job and it can be very humbling at times so don’t take the above as an insult.

I'm not clear on what the point of this thread is...
We’re starting from an Eric Pincus tweet. That tweet starts with “It’s early….” Ya think? Hours after the draft is “early” to predict whether second round picks will make the team? Really?
There are 9 guaranteed contracts on the team for next season, and then we hope that DeAndre Jordan is also on the team. That leaves 4 roster spots to the usual 14. Either Olshey finds better options for those final 4 spots than Willie Warren, Trey Thompkins or Travis Leslie or he doesn’t. But why have we decided that 13 spots are spoken for based on an Eric Pincus tweet?

Is it weird
I think the Clips should have sold a 2nd round pick to the Knicks last night? Quick 700k score for DTS.

Punctuation...
“Is it weird” seems like a question, but no question mark. “I think the Clips should have sold a 2nd round pick to the Knicks last night” seems like a statement, yet it has a question mark. All of which just leaves me confused. I understand that money in DTS’ pocket is sarcasm, but the rest of your point eludes me.

second try
Is it weird that I think the Clips should have sold a 2nd round pick to the Knicks last night? Quick 700k score for DTS yet I’d be okay with it (and trick myself into thinking this goes into the Clippers coffers to be used on the team and not to buy another building in KTown for DTS).

Actually advocating the pick?
Really? Sans sarcasm? I did not see that coming. So, yes, to answer your question, yes, a little weird, yeah.

i think neither guy should make the roster
Might as well pick up cash even though 99% likely it doesn’t go towards roster improvements.

I doubt both of them and Warren make the roster
Hopefully we can get a FA SF which would be 11 and most of the salary.
At this point, I would rather just resign Diogu and Moon instead of Leslie or Thompkins. Send them down into the D-league!
Diogu and Moon for the vet min of course
They both seem happy here: just glad to be in the league and get some occasional minutes.
Because it is fodder for the anti- FO crowd (of one)

I guess I am another one...
The lop-sided Baron trade, the subsequent elevation of that #1 pick (if you couldn’t protect it, why trade it?), Olshey’s ridiculous announcement that draft day was some kind of a trading deadline (he levied some heavy expectations on that one), the effort to “save cap space” which seems more and more like simply pocketing cash, the too-long contracts of Cook, Foye, and Gomes, the hiring of Del Negro over better qualified (perhaps more expensive) contenders, and the general weak and unbalanced look of the roster puts me in the anti-FO camp. Frankly, I can’t find a good reason to be anywhere else.
Point?
Just passing along information. Is it unusual to pass along or highlight a tweet from one of the reporters covering the Clippers?
I saw 20 fanshots on the minute to minute non-updates on an Iggy trade and this one containing new information is the one that is out of line?

Now John...
Don’t be disingenuous with me. You’re better than that. Passing along is linking it. Your post included the line, presumably typed by you and not by someone hacking your account “So with both second rounders making it, I count 12 for the roster next season already locked up?” The implication being that you accept as fact Pincus’ tweet.

FWIW
the other fanshots/fanposts John R is referring to is followed by something like:
“Mo, Gordon, Iggy, Griffin, Jordan
Wouldn’t that be a great team"
What’s the difference? Why pick on John R?
Blake Griffin is coming, hide your MBengas
Steve's not picking on him
He’s merely stating a fact. Many of his posts over the past few days have been similar.
