Oh Darius...
Former NBA player and East St. Louis native Darius Miles was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport for allegedly trying to bring a loaded firearm through security, authorities said.

Mentioned this news and pointed that Darius is only 29 and should have been in the prime of his NBA career. If he had gone to college first, or landed on a team with real vets to help him mature, he’d maybe work a little harder on getting stronger, develop a few more moves and a jumper.
Of course maybe in the end, none of it would matter- but that kid was amazingly talented. He’d probably never be the next KG as everyone thought he might be back in then, but I’d like to think at the very least he would still be a solid player in the league today.
still have a soft spot for darius
bummer about this
man, he was one of the main reasons I became a fan.
it’s all Andre Miller’s fault!

wtf is he thinking??
a gun to the airport? i wonder if he’s heard about 9/11
I know a lot of you guys are fans of Miles, I never was. He was a good dunker, but I could see he was going to flop.
He never seemed to improve. He’s a dumbass. Just another scrub in the annals of Clippers history as far as I’m concerned. But for you guys that loved him..it’s ok.
Hmm... This may be worth it's own fanpost. Are NBA Players Smart?

i dont want to diss any players
but guys like Baron (in his 30’s) is going back to school during the lockout because they don’t have any degree…technically most NBA (or any pro-athlete for that matter) are college drop outs, some are even no college at all (LeBron James, et al.)
I thought I remember an LBJ interview when he couldn’t speak right and his response was “sorry, i didn’t go to school”
there are exceptions, like Shane Battier…but overall. I doubt any of these guys would be able to make a solid appearance on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

disclaimer: i am in no way knocking B.Knight…he might be a smart dude (that knows the game of basketball! haha). and i’m sure there are some other smart ballers too…i’m just saying…its a different world for athletes

If you were a young talented basketball player, you would be mesmerized
by Kentucky and the rockstar status they get there. This goes beyond any possible Calipari indiscretions. I went to IU and am not a Kentucky apologist. But KU would be hard to turn down unless you were going for academic accolades from a school like Duke. If you have to go to college first to get NBA, this is one and done paradise.

if you're 20 years old
and have a chance to get drafted, even in the 2nd round you take it. I can’t find a full rundown, but Wille Warren, 54th pick overall, is listed as being owed $788,872 for 2011/2012. Even if you have a middling/low career for about 4-5 years with slightly lower than average earnings (average is about 3.4 miilion), you could still end up with a good chunk of change. As long as you’re smart about your money, that’s a good start, and you could always go back to school.
u mean like Andray Blatche
2nd round pick. lost all his money to the point he was living in the Wizards arena.
