Pros and Cons

Pros:
Clippers defense has been much better.
They are more focused on rebounding.
Caron is a great signing with some great points.
Cons:
We are getting almost NO calls from the refs
A lot of turnovers
We are lucky that Portland is missing
Gomes and the 2nd team is atrocious, including Mo’s “leadership”

I like him, but it seems that whenever he is slightly pushed or boxed out on the offensive board, he jumps back and yells. It seems he convinces himself that… he is fouled? Just my 2 cents. I love their aggression though!

Clippers get some credit

but let’s not be delusional. A win will make us think we’re a better team all of a sudden. I don’t buy it, and I certainly don’t see anything different (defensive scheme wise) than the previous 2 games. Portland is just missing shots but I do admit we are playing with more energy.

Neil was saying before the game how there were no good 7 footers out there. I still think just getting Diogu back would be nice- he is far superior to Cook at the 4 and 5, and bigger and stronger than Gomes at the 4

He had 4 turnovers in 12 minutes? That is just horrible. Thompkins goes in for 1 minute and does just as much as Gomes without the turnover.

I'm quite pleased with a 2-2 record

with games against Warriors on the road, San Antonio on the road, Bulls home and Portland home. That is pretty solid under the circumstances :)

If you want him to get more blocks, you will also complain that he has weak defense. I would rather he plays defense like this and get 1 or 2 blocks a night!

Talking about defense -

I’m so glad Portland did not succeed in making Blake a non-factor. As far as i remember, Blake has had trouble with LA in every single game he has played against him, but not today. Also significantly better all-around rebounding from the whole team

Too true

He complains so much that he is often way out of position for defense which than forces DJ to swing over and help. This leaves a man or a cutter open and creates easy hoops for the other team.

I'm not sure about that

but certainly understand why they do, both are built so solidly that hits by opposing players just bounce off them. This leads officials to allow them to get beat up on which is probably infuriating as they feel that they should be receiving more calls.

on paper, yes. But that thinking isn’t correct. Wouldn’t our bench be better if we put CP3 Blake Caron and DJ on the bench? But that makes our starters worse. To top it off, there’s no way that Billups consents to being a reserve. Might as well waive him

Billups consenting would be an issue. Its all for naught if the Clippers cant get him to buy in

Still, i like the idea as the Clippers have enough fire power in their starting five where they can manage with Foye as a starter. Foye seems to really play better as a starter and Billups and Mo would do wonders shoring up a weak bench.
