Unbelievable that CP3 is having a terrible game

Mo is single handily keeping us in this game

blah

Feel like we should be down by 20+. We’re sloppy and our second unit gave back everything they gained in the first.

At least I'm also a Redskins fan... oh wait. My sports life sucks.

by Clipper T on Jan 10, 2012 8:18 PM PST via iPhone app reply actions

The bench gave us 20 points in 2 quarters

But yeah they looked bad and most of that 20 points is from Mo (11).

Can't believe, especially since I just dropped Mo from one of my fantasy teams

We got

Quite few lucky breaks por missed few ez layups

by arman martikian on Jan 10, 2012 8:20 PM PST via mobile reply actions

There were bad calls made and missed on both sides

i just hope we are better than the blazers edge community complaining about everything. sheesh…

by cantthinkofagoodname on Jan 10, 2012 8:22 PM PST reply actions

Mo-Chauncey-Caron trio playing ok

Caron needs to hit those layups though.

Mo: 11 points on 5-7 shooting, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 TO in 15 min

Cp3: 0 points on 0-3 shooting, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, TO in 11 min.

Ouch

Must be CP3's new Jordans

Nobody will buy them now

They are jinxed.

He is not a fastbreak PG whereas Mo is, but still, CP3 just looks flat out slow compared to Mo right now, and Mo is no Rose or Westbrook.

Maybe CP3 is "resting" for tomorrow's game

Hopefully he shows up his buddy Lebron

The refs have to know that they can’t pull this kind of crap. If they are going to call bs fouls like that, they better face the consequences on and off the court. I know for a fact that off the court they will get scolded for taking out the star of the game so early.

I don't blame VDN on this one.

It’s obvious that the call was NOT to foul, and Blake did a stupid thing. He got too aggressive. You could tell that he knew he made a mistake.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 10, 2012 9:50 PM PST up reply actions

Griffin really showed some rookie mistakes in the end game.

First off, he was NOT suppose to foul. He knew it and that’s why his face looked disappointed. It was an unnecessary foul and he knew it.
Second, what the hell were you thinking on the next play? When the coach puts in Cook, Williams, Billups, and CP3, you know you are looking for a three pointer. And what the hell do you do? You try to get a foul. And what would you gain? You missed your free throws tonight!
All in all, I did NOT like what Griffin did. He seemed to take the game into his hands and he made two big no-nos.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 10, 2012 9:48 PM PST reply actions

i dunno

looked kinda intentional to me.

by osamu on Jan 10, 2012 9:51 PM PST up reply actions

so

what are you saying?..

by kikyexcel on Jan 10, 2012 9:51 PM PST up reply actions

I'm saying that Griffin has long ways to go.

And it looked intentional? Is that why the other players seemed puzzled? It may have looked intentional because Griffin was an idiot. He ran up right onto Felton. I know you want to blame VDN, so do I, but it was Griffin’s fault at the end game.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 10, 2012 9:56 PM PST up reply actions

I guess you're right

just looked like he intentionally reached in, I thought in a trap he’d keep his arms out. I guess he saw an opportunity to try and knock the ball out and gambled. Either way, if the clips played D, and they just threw a shot up at the basket as the shot clock expired, the game clock might’ve run out if anyone didn’t secure the ball right away. It was a super long shot anyways, so I’ll stop complaining

by osamu on Jan 10, 2012 10:12 PM PST up reply actions

Also, I'm not impressed by the Blazers.

There were extremely lucky with their shots and the refs were basically handing them the game. If you are only up by 3 and that is the case, wow, not a great team.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 10, 2012 9:49 PM PST reply actions

They looked pretty good to me.....

Rock solid defense, good players at all positions, decent depth off the bench. Of course they were making shots- they were all wide open.

They destroyed us off the high pick and roll with Aldridge and Felton.

by NewCavsfan on Jan 10, 2012 9:51 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, they did look good

But it seems our defense is going to make many teams look good.

by dulciusXasperis on Jan 10, 2012 9:53 PM PST up reply actions

I think they were lucky with some plays (that one bs tip in) and the refs helped them out.

The Clips were pretty much handicapped and the Blazers could only get a small win. That’s not good in my books. If this were a playoff series, the refs’ attention would have been called to their lop sided calls.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 10, 2012 9:58 PM PST up reply actions

I have to admit

They played physically and if that is what the ref’s will let you get away with we should too. Except were not allowed to do that.

It was 25.9 seconds left. If you don’t foul there, you’re likely looking at a second (or less) to get off a desperation three.

Blazers fans

We need to learn form the Portland fans, their building is loud as h3ll. We need to bring that same energy to our team every time at Staples., especially when we’re supposed to be playing home against the Lakers…

by kikyexcel on Jan 10, 2012 9:55 PM PST reply actions

It's a good point.

One of the reasons it’s so hard to win at the Rose Garden. Their fans get up and yell over anything and everything. Even when their team is struggling they cheer loud as a moral boost. Same with Thunder fans.

by dulciusXasperis on Jan 10, 2012 9:58 PM PST up reply actions

So glad we have another few days off until our next game to fix the problems.

all jokes aside, it was a good game. Sure some of the calls may have sucked towards the end, but we got beat by a better “team” in their homecourt today. We have better players and hopefully we will learn defense and become a better team in the future. It’s safe to say we are pretty evenly match up against the Blazers right now. Clearly if we meet them in the playoffs then home court advantage will be key.

Haven't kept up with Portland.

Do they always get these calls at home?

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 10, 2012 10:10 PM PST reply actions

Refs were indeed horrible

But the bad calls went both ways. IE DeAndre(?) stepping in on the inbound pass… HOW DO YOU MISS THAT

I've taken time to digest this game and here's what I came up with

WTF????

If it's negative I don't want to hear it eliminating playa haters with their evil spirits!

by Controversysells on Jan 10, 2012 10:11 PM PST via mobile reply actions

Is that towards...

a) VDN’s Coaching
b) The “Refs”
c) Blake Griffin’s Last 26 Second Heroism
d) All of the above.
Here is a hint, there is no wrong answer.

Yea but most of all it's WTF

Everyone talking about Kobe's big game.

I think they fail to realize that that isn’t exactly a good sign. He is basically carrying the whole team, and yes, this can win you league games. But then Laker fans wonder why they lose in the playoffs?

+/- stuff

Highest +: Evans +4 in 17 minutes
Lowest -: Cook -14 IN 5 MINUTES

2 late game timeouts.

Play 1: VDN called a basic play. Inbound to the wing, then have the inbounder run off a screen to get open up top. This play has worked before.

In this case, the pass (I forger the passer) was late, and Chauncey (the shooter) didn’t get a clean look. He bailed out and mahe a mid range shot and 1.

Play 2: VDN calls the SAME PLAY. Portland just denies it, and we end up with a BG turnover. He had a whole timeout and he didnt’t draw up a play. What does he do?

by LJ Hann on Jan 10, 2012 10:12 PM PST reply actions

You keep blaming VDN in this.

Was it him who told them to foul? No, that was Griffin’s doing.
Was it him who told Griffin to do it all himself? No, that was Griffin’s doing.
All in all, I agree that he is a terrible coach. However, don’t try to pin this all on him. Griffin made terrible decisions in the end game.

VDN actually made a couple good VDN moves tonight.

He did a good time out once, plus when he changed his mind to keep Reggie in when he was doing well (although they ran it up again when we pulled to within 2).

Where did I pin it all on VDN

just piping in about some terrible play calling.

I agree about Griff

You seemed to focus on VDN's play calling in this post...

Oh yeah

I posted about the play calling. Blake had nothing to do with the play calling. I blame VDN for calling a repeat play and putting Blake in a position where he could make that play.

The overall loss, no, I don’t blame Vinny for all of that. But the playcalling? Absolutely on the coach.

Too bad we lost...

But the Clips played fairly well despite Chris Paul having a terrible game and took it all the way to the end. The Rose Garden’s a tough place to play in, and the Clips hung around despite all of their mistakes. Not bad for a team still trying to figure each other out.

As for VDN, we can’t blame him for that late game foul by Blake Griffin. That was ALL on Griffin – he played wayyyy too close to Felton. It was an easy call by the refs.

I too felt that PDX got some calls going their way, but we already know that the more aggressive team will usually get the calls, so I wasn’t too surprised with the calls.

Chalk it up as a good learning experience, and move on the next game.

there's no system

i feel like our team is based completely on individual play. there’s no set plays, no system. if paul is not able to create because he’s got an off night, it’s basically all about 1 on 1 plays. DJ and blake are below average screen setters and defenders who still haven’t learned to switch on defense. this team will make the playoffs because of talent. but unless dj and blake make some progress on playing team defense we will make an early exit.

Well Heat lose in OT

Both teams gonna look for revenge tomorrow.

It's in possible to go to Portland and play

Rose garden air is still full of weed smoke from Rasheed. It causes opposing players to choke
