what's wrong with Clipperblog? They seem to be quite negative about this Clipperteam. I'm getting mightily annoyed by their constant stream of negative articles.

to quote some of the "love" they have for thie rown team
This was an ugly game, it was a bit of a fluke in terms of getting the win, and I really am not looking forward to what happens against the combination of Kobe, Bynum, and Pau on Saturday.

I've noticed this all season, and actually stopped visiting due to it

I mean, its almost like they are overcompensating and trying to not act like they root for the flippers

Why do you have any familiarity with Styx? I mean, other than Come Sail Away, of course.

Brainstorm

The Clippers and Lakers have for several years now been the only teams in the NBA without a mascot – since Boston added Lucky the Leprechaun and his magically delicious frosted lucky charms.

So I’ve often thought it would be fun to run a contest here to pick a theoretical mascot for the team, but I never had any good ideas. But it’s so obvious – Flipper! Flipper the Clipper! The Dunkin’ Dolphin! The Post up Porpoise!

the day when autocorrect created a job and ended the recession...

I’ve been annoyed by having to correct that every time I type ‘clipper’ on the touchpad for weeks- little did I know!

by LJ Hann on Jan 13, 2012 11:03 AM PST up reply actions

I like it

and maybe it will make Hayden Panettiere a fan. Or maybe it will be another blackeye for the organization when DTS skimps on cost and Flipper the Clipper dies due to malnutrition.

that's terrible

but since we are going with the dark humor, I can delve into the South Park where all asians hate whales and dolphins… aren’t alot of Clipper fans asian?

That was Japanese

and thats because they were misled to believing they bombed Japan.

I think about that almost every time I’m in the meat section of the grocery store.

Hahaha

Being part Japanese, I tried to be offended by that episode, but it was just way too awesome.

Not sure there was anything to be offended about

Quite the opposite, actually. The point they were making was, why is killing one animal any different than killing another? Why are we Americans incensed by the killing of whales but not by the killing of cows? Doesn’t make any sense. It’s just another example of we Americans thinking our way is the only way and everyone else is weird/crazy … kinda like a whole nation of Lakers fans.

Well it portrayed Japanese people as being kind of stupid...

But as I quickly discovered that wasn’t at all the point of the episode. And as you explained very well, completely the opposite. I love how deep South Park episodes are, and not just from a comedic standpoint. There’s really no comparison to Simpsons (now) and Family Guy (ever).

this Flipper conversation

is almost as good as that TNMT-Clippers conversation prior to Blake’s first rookie season

I've noticed that too...one of their guys on twitter really comes across as an arrogant tool

We need Bill Walton back: "Where would the LA Clippers franchise be without Sean Rooks? Bo Outlaw might be the best pick up of the off season.

Jovan Buha has been harping on Butler on twitter

and one other contributes called Chris Paul the biggest disappointment in an ESPN 5 on 5 after 5 games.

To my feeling it isn’t a Clippers blog. Just some random dudes writing about the Clippers.

Guys with names like 'Demote DeAndre'

Says it all. I still like Breene, DJ Foster, Kevin of course, really lost interest in having dialogue in the comments section.

by cassellmania on Jan 13, 2012 11:34 AM PST reply actions

yeah there is a guy named “FD” for fire dunleavy too. a nd a few others. all the comment just turn into those guys poisonining it.

i’d much rather be over here. once kevin left too, you did not get the really crazy play analysis so the site sort of fell apart.

DJ foster and breene are still good, but the site is not what it once was.

"once kevin left too, you did not get the really crazy play analysis so the site sort of fell apart."

I feel the same way!

I actually don’t read much of Breene’s stuff, but that’s just because I think he uses a lot of run-on sentences and I’m really weird about that sorta stuff. Possibly OCD.

Kevin was really the only reason to go there. I’m sure DJ is a fine human being, but I never felt his analysis was anything special. I stopped going a couple weeks after Kevin left and never looked back.

He's being objective

It’s refreshing, homers are annoying

Blake Griffin is coming, hide your MBengas

by bacek on Jan 13, 2012 4:34 PM PST reply actions

This is true

However, smart writers know their audience and know that they can’t just be objective all the time. Fans are going to be homers, it’s a simple fact, so to keep those readers engaged, they have to spend at least a small amount of time focusing on the positive “homer” stories. Isn’t it evidence enough at how much of the CN readership isn’t a fan of all the constant objectivity? If you’re a non-team-affiliated site like Yahoo sports, they should strive to remain completely objective, but once you take sides and pick a team, you have to keep one foot firmly planted in homer-land.

I don’t need the “CP3 and Blake are the best and they will win the title” kind of thing. But it would be nice to be a bit more upbeat. They did win from one of the best teams in the league.
