Did New Orleans get the best deal?

Kaman's PER is 15.0, Aminu's is 9.6. Gordon has played only 2 of 12 games and the Minnesota pick looks like it will be toward the end of the lottery rather than a #1 or #2. The HOU/LA offer of Martin/Scola/Odom/Dragic and the Knicks' first round would have made the team pretty deep this year. Still don't know if Odom would have had his head on straight after the trade.

Gordon, Kaman, and Aminu's performances don't matter in the long run...

the trade is easily better than the Lakers’ offer because it gives the Hornets more flexibility for the rebuilding process.

The vast number of misinformed Laker fans who STILL are crying foul about this trade simply don’t understand that taking on a couple veteran players and losing in the first round every year is actually LESS beneficial to a franchise than just blowing up the roster immediately and tanking for picks. Losing in the first round every year with a bevy of aging players and bad contracts doesn’t get you a star player, it just puts you in salary cap hell and delays the inevitable.

Exactly

You should either be contending for a championship or contending for a #1 pick.

true dat Eriko!

we were contending for the #1 pick for 20+ years now so now glad to contend for the championship

isn’t it cool to go in to any game w the confidence that we are gonna win?!?! i think we can beat any team in the league regularly

yep

I mean I know kinda where they’re coming from and from a complete talent stand point, getting scola, Kmart, and Odom, would be quite a haul of talent. Sadly, that talent doesn’t come cheap, and I don’t think some people understand that. I don’t blake Lakers fans if they don’t understand the cap, or the concept of money, or the concept of selling a team, since they rarely have to consider those aspects of basketball, haha. But yea taking on those 3 meant taking on like 64 million in additional salary over the life of the contracts, and if you really thought theyd be contenders with that group, you gotta be kidding. that kind of salary could easily scare off plenty of potential buyers. Eric Gordon, AFA, and a potential top pick are just the kind of assets a new owner would want to build the team as they saw fit.

eg won’t be hurt forever. and kaman and aminu have been a lot better since ariza got hurt and they began starting. the pick honestly will be at the end of the lottery so I feel great about that as a clip fan.

It was the best deal at the time, and still the best deal.

Odom has been really struggling this season and the Rockets are 2 games under .500 with both Martin and Scola. Hornets are better off with cap relief and young players. Aminu has performed well when he has started for the Hornets. EJ needs to get healthy, but he’ll be returning early next week. Minnesota has improved some, but are still likely a lotto team for at least one more season. New Orleans may not get Davis or Drummond from Minnesota, but they will be able to add a young prospect with some upside to go with Gordon, Aminu and their own lotto pick.

unless they couldve found a way to get steph curry

this was easily the best deal they couldve gotten

The fact that you asked this made me honestly made me smh..

this thing has been discussed many times. For the long run, they got the better deal. For a short term goal and not a big chance of finding the right ownership for NOH, then the other one is better. Only Laker fans would lead others to believe otherwise.
