Blasphemous Trade Scenario
So I was bored and toying with the new Dwight Howard to Clips idea. Clearly, it's not realistic in terms of free agency (no money to sign him) and likely the only way we could trade for him would involve Blake (which is hard to fathom). But just for fun I wanted to try out a scenario that works and hear opinions from other Clipper fans. I didn't format this nicely, but oh well.
Magic Trade: Howard, Anderson, Q-Rich, Duhon.
Clips Trade: Griffin, DJ, Foye, Cookie, Bledsoe. (Use trade exceptions from Gordon, Aminu to absorb contracts if needed)
Analysis: Magic get two young quality players and a young prospect, and 2 expiring contracts. They get rid of two bad contracts (Q-Rich and Duhon). They would like to dump Turk, which could be done, but he's playing ok and they don't have a decent replacement unless they would like Ryan Gomes for cheap ha. Clippers get Howard and Anderson, very strong complimentary duo. Giving them 4 quality shooters in the starting lineup, plus Howard anchoring the D. I think this would make the Clips pretty devastating. Paul, Billups, Butler, Anderson, Howard. They might as well change the team name at this point because there won't be anything that resembles even the Clippers a couple seasons ago (though Q-Rich comes back to the delight of Clipper fans).
Anyways, thoughts or suggestions?

Q
We traded or signed him a few years ago, but then released him. This whole Dwight chatter is getting pretty annoying. Blake will be a WAY better player and superstar than Dwight. PERIOD.
no no no
this is my favorite aka most hated trade of all time
The clippers roster consisted of Zbo, Camby, Kaman, DJ, and Blake
So the Clippers traded Zbo for Q Rich, then turned Q Rich into Craig Smith and Rasual Butler
BRILLIANT

The trade
was made after we already drafted Blake. The Clips had Zbo, Kaman and DJ on the roster with Blake Griffin coming in. They pretty much salary dumped ZBo to clear cap space for the 2010 summer free agents.

You have us trading Griffin and DJ?
I love Dwight but he isn’t worth that even with the addition of Anderson.
"It's better to be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right"unknown
That was my first thought
Because DJ and Dwight are not very complimentary. But seems like it might be better just trading for Dwight with Griffin, then trading DJ for someone like Josh Smith. It would still be lob city then ha.
Where do I sign?
Yes.
Neil Olshey would have turned a lottery team into a championship contender in no time.
Can we just stop it with Dwight to the Clippers?
Not happening. It would have been plausible had the Clips been able to hold on to Eric Gordon during the CP3 trade. Gordon / DJ / Fillers for Dwight Howard is a really good haul for Orlando, and unlikely to be topped by any other team.
NO!!!
Upside with Blake Griffin is too BIG! Plus, I really like watching not just BG but the other players you mentioned in the trade grow and prosper on this Clippers team with the new additions cp3, billups, bulter.
Blake is OUR SUPERSTAR! not another team’s SuperStar.
We have grown with him, Cp3 is now one of us and hopefully he will sign extension with the Clippers for many more years with BG and the rest.
Sidenote: this doesn’t’ have to include cookie.

No thanks on anything that says, "Clippers trade: Griffin"
He’s ours forever!!!

Agreed
Blake has single handily changed the perception of the Clips franchise. For that reason alone we are forever grateful and will show our appreciation by giving him max extensions until he retires at the age of 45 whilst still jumping over everybody!
