This is kind of a random thought I just had just some speculation about the Nuggets in China that some of us have had about Smith/Martin/Chandler. Didn't see a thread already about it, so I decided to make one!
When these Nugget stars come back in March (that is the latest they should be coming back) I would love to see them in some Clippers jerseys. I also know Wilson Chandler is a RFA and Denver would match any lowball-decent offers on him, so I don't really consider him an option. However, I think it would be great if the Clippers could try to land Smith and/or Martin. It seems like Smith has shown interest in the Clippers, and I'm sure Martin wouldn't mind playing in Staples. Of course this would mean trying to clear up some salary. Personally, I don't see where we can clear up salary either than trading some players and trying to dump some of our weaker bench players on other teams(possibly Gomes?), but I think we should go after Smith and/or Martin. Hopefully they would be willing to take a bench spot, and yes I know they have a bit of attitude, but I'm sure Chauncey would be able to convince them keep quiet and be happy. I think it would be even greater if they came because then maybe Chauncey takes a secondary role, not because he should be on the bench, but because he has much better chemistry with these guys. Even if we just signed one, I think our team would become much stronger because both of these guys bring games that are perfect for Bench players. I know signing both is near impossible, but could you imagine a starting 5 of CP3/Williams/Butler/Griffin/Deandre and a backup with Butler/Smith/Martin? That to me is a beautiful rotation.
