Suggestion for backup 4/5 spot

After watching the T-Wolves game and the lack of one players playing time I thought a perfect addition to the Clippers would be Anthony Randolph. Not sure if too many people are familiar with Randolph. He has spent time with the Warriors and the Knicks. He is a very talented but raw post player. I would rate his post offense higher then DJ. Along with his offense he provides a lengthy post defender.

In my opinion he would be an ideal acquisition. With the T-Wolves depth and RIck Adelman favoring big bulky post players I think the Clippers would be able to acquire him for very little, maybe a 2nd round pick.

He has long been a darling of the advanced stats community

Doubt Minnesota would part with him that easily, but I’d definitely be willing to take a flyer on him. He would be a massive upgrade over Cook/Jones as an 8-12 min/game backup C.

Kind of small to be a C

A few obstacles for the Clips acquiring Randolph.

I don’t think a 2nd round pick would be enough for him. The Clips could offer Bledsoe but the Wolves already have Ridnour, Rubio and Barea (though Kahn can’t resist the PGs).

He’s a RFA this summer, so are the Clips getting a half season rental or would they match a decent sized offer sheet (if any) for him.

Are the Wolves even shopping him? He’s still cheap this year and they have his RFA rights so they have the built in advantage of keeping him around for cheap as well.

I don’t think he’s really a center. he’s basically a tall SF unless he’s bulked up a lot. head case too

Pass

He may be tall, but Randolph is not a post player at all, he’s skinny and likes to shoot jumpers. If the Clippers are looking to add another big off the bench they should be looking for a guy who can score in the post. If Chauncey can convince him I would love to sign Rasheed Wallace because even though he like’s to shoot 3s, he is a great post player and defender. Another guy I would look into If i were Olshey is the King’s Jason Thompson, a pretty good backup C, can score and play D. There’s will be many options when the trade deadline approaches, Olshey needs to be patient.

I'd take Thompson in a heart beat over Randolph.....

Besides, our last Randolph experiment wasn’t very successful!

Who was our last Randolph experiment?

Lamar Odom or Yaroslav Korolev?

I got my eyes

on both Anthony Randolph and Jason Thompson. I’d prefer J. Thompson – he has a higher basketball IQ and is a decent jumpshooter (at least from my eye test). Randolph is a tantalizing talent, but I’m not sure if he will ever get it together. Kind of reminds me of Beasley, loads of talent and potential along with a lot of luggage.

I feel like Thompson is a poor man's Aldridge

Good bench guy.

It would be better

to morph all the citizens together into a backup center
