Report: Magic Inquire About Howard For Stoudemire, Chandler Trade
One of my (admittedly unoriginal) trade ideas seems to be in discussion. Great move for both teams.
My new CBA knowledge is nowhere near strong enough yet (maybe a good idea for a post would be a Compare and Contrast of the old CBA and the new one?), but won't New York have enough space to sign D-Will next season?
I sincerely hope Dwight goes to either the Knicks or Nets. I don't want him in the WC, and worse, I don't want to be tempted into weighing the ups and downs of trading Blake for him.
I want Blake to be a Clipper for life, but I'd be lying if I side the idea of Blake and DJ for Dwight/Redick/Anderson isn't tempting in the very least.

Both teams would have to be retarded to not pull the trigger on that one
Only if Dwight is willing to sign an extension with the Knicks though.
Isn't it a no-brainer that Dwight extends?
Large market, fellow, ahem, super star already locked in re: Melo.
Knicks should hire Phil and be done with it. Dwight and Melo can be Shaq and Kobe 2.0. Not saying Dwight is anywhere near Shaq, but he is in today’s NBA.
This works even better if they can’t sign Deron Williams. The triangle would fit with Iman at the the point, no? They would then be able to fill out the team using the 2 Super Star model as opposed to 3.
Sign Kenyon Martin to play the 4?

only problem is Melo is no Kobe. This coming from a guy who hates Kobe.
but if they could get Kenyon Martin that’d be a good on paper team. The Magic would be pretty good on paper too/still.
your use of the phrase "pull the trigger" offends me

Honestly not sure if you are serious
I have never heard anything bad about that term before. But I will try to refrain from using it.
are you kidding ??
How is this bad for the Knicks, they get rid of Amare (horrible contract) and have Howard and Melo with the chance to add Dwill in the offseason. It is horrible for the Magic.
Not horrible at all.
Ty Chandler is a premiere defensive center. And the only reason Amar’e sucks this year is because Melo won’t stop shooting.

But you can't contend like that
In the NBA you need to ethier suck or be very good, that trade is comparable to the NOH-LAL trade, sure they get a better team but they get stuck being a 5-8th seed in the East with no chance of winning. Taking Amare contract could be really bad for Orlando and i remember one team doctor saying Amare could not be playing in 3 years, that was 2 years ago.
If i were Orlando i would ethier play the season with him as they seem like a legit contender or wait after the deadline and take the New Jersey offer Brooks, picks and that young SG they have.
Brook Lopez is up for a contract extension.
Someone will pay him. So that’s pretty much a wash.
SVG is a good coach. A Nelson-Redick-Chandler-Amar’e core is solid. If you can keep Big Baby and Ryan Anderson off the bench, so much the better.
The East is top heavy and a wasteland after that. If they can dump Hedo in the deal, so much the better.

You mean Lopez and Amare contracts would be a wash ??
I have to disagree if that’s the case, they are not even close to be a wash Lopez is going to command max 12 million a year, Amare is 18 million for 4 years, i think there is no chance he is going to remain healthy those 4 years, his contract would hurt the Magic for years. There is no much sense in being a team like Atlanta and this Magic team would be worst than the Hawks.
Lopez is now no longer the iron man he was.
Amar’e’s contract has warts, but to suggest he’s already breaking down is incredibly premature in my opinion.
Before Melo, STAT was straight BALLIN’. How many 30 point games did he have in a run? If anything, he’s been run into the ground playing too many minutes for D’Antoni. That will change under Van Gundy, especially if they keep quality big man depth with Big Baby and Ryan Anderson.
Amar’e’s stock is low because of outside factors. He’s a proven game changer; Brook Lopez isn’t.
And I’m not even mentioning the fact that ORL will be getting this year’s most coveted big man on the Free Agent market.

Hmmm, how can the Magic take on those two contracts for just Dwight?
I would imagine Hedo would have to be part of the deal…who is probably a great piece for the D’Antoni way.
We need Bill Walton back: "Where would the LA Clippers franchise be without Sean Rooks? Bo Outlaw might be the best pick up of the off season.

Good point.
I imagine taking Hedo would be worth it to Dolan. They can start him at the 4 (cringe).

NY would get the NBA's
best defender and its second best scorer. A good mix for season wins.

Anyone but the Lakers!
Sure, Dwight would create a gaping hole at PF for the Lakers and wouldn’t fix their point guard problem, but I’d rather not deal with the neverending hype train from ESPN.

BTW....
CP3/Griffin vs. Melo/Dwight in the Finals would be an epic matchup… almost as good as CP3/Griffin vs. LeBron/Wade/Bosh.

At the rate they are playing, the Knicks may not even make the playoffs.
"Great Balls Of Fire, Reggie's Back!"
As presently constructed, you're right...
the Knicks are not a playoff team. That roster is a catastrophe, completely unsuited to D’Antoni’s style.
But with Dwight instead of Amar’e and Chandler, it’s hard to imagine them missing the playoffs, especially in the weak East.

D'Antoni is the problem in my opinion.
He isn’t quite the defensive coach teams need and his offense is well… predictable.
