Huh? Wha? TWolves Hesitate on KLove?
Tick. Tick. Tick.
There's a lot of articles around the web on this situation. This one is by Steve Aschburner at SI.
The deadline for extending 2008 draft picks is tomorrow night (Wed) at midnight eastern. Twolves apparently offered Love 4 years at 61 million. Why didn't they go for the full five at 80? Like what Westbrook got?
Uh... Mister Love is currently knocking 24.9 points and 13.9 rebounds. Last year he averaged almost 16 rebs per. They did the right thing in bringing in Adelman, I think this an obvious no-brainer.
If the Wolves have any hope of climbing out of the depths of terribleness it's by committing to a charismatic, overachieving all-star like Love. Right?!
The Wolves are saving their pennies for uh... Ricky Rubio? Puh-lease.

Last year I felt like his stats were inflated, since he was in a bad team
This year I feel like this guy is the real deal, although his defense needs much improving. Regardless, Kevin Love will never turn into a legit “Superstar.” He just doesn’t have the swagger that BG, Lebron, Kove, and Rubio have. So, he is likely not to get maxed out. On the there hand, I thought Westbrook’s contract was too much. I seriously feel like OKC will have chemistry problems in the future (especially playoffs)

I read somewhere that Durant and Westbrook do in fact have some chemistry issues. Plus,
I don’t know if Westbrook is worth that much money.

I believe they had to be separated a few games back during a timeout
Plus, at best I believe he is a really good second option

Dude reminds me of Jesus Christ in that picture
I just feel like his commercials have been pretty lame. For example, Love in the Shower? Seriously?

Really? Come on
Dude just hit a game winning NBA 3 pointer ? Pretty f’n cool IMO – of course I’m biased as a UCLA fan

Don't understand the hate for the picture either
If I hit a game winner like that I’d be doing the same pose since it was a good win for them. People handle those things in different ways. Plus I’m also biased as a UCLA alum.

If they get Love for Less than max, I give them props....
With that said…. He’s worth the maximum allowable.

I hope there is no extention
Only to see what Simmons writes about it.
I wonder
Let’s be clear. 4/$61 is max money – it’s just not max years. It’s possible (though not likely) that Love isn’t that interested in that extra year – that he knows he’ll still get paid in his next contract at the age of 27. Or it’s possible that the T-Wolves and Love are amicably leaning towards the 4 year deal, just to leave the 5 year deal as a possibility for Rubio. Not that Rubio deserves it more than Love, but maybe they just want to keep their flexibility, and Love is OK with that. We don’t know what discussions are involved.

About that extra year
Can’t the T-Wolves offer that extra year this off-season if they choose not to extend ? I remember you suggest the Clipper could/should do that with EJ earlier this season so they could give him 5 years while giving Blake the 5 year max.
Does that make any sense?
Maybe I’m nuts. Saving the five year deal for Rubio? I’m thunderstruck. You can’t be serious.
It seems to me that signing Love to the biggest, fattest contract you can wrangle is exactly what Minny should do. They’ve been the butt of every joke, not aimed at the Clippers, for the last five years. David Kahn reached a pants-dropping level of buffoonery that was otherworldly. Getting the hugely popular and rapidly improving Love is something they HAVE to get done. They should do the signing on a giant stage with dancing girls, an orchestra, and giant pens. Maybe they should do it in costume, like the founding fathers signing the Declaration of Independence. They have to send a signal that the dumb old days are over. You CAN’T overplay this.
Come on now, it's the Wolves.
Obviously their priority is their young, Spanish pointguard
hes definitely not interested in that 5th year...
I’m willing to bet he would take a 3 year if possible
This says he signed the 4 year deal
I also heard this on ESPN tonight.

"Great Balls Of Fire, Reggie's Back!"
Really? Four years?
I don’t get this.
Let me put it another way: Next year, if Blake Griffin only signs a four year deal, what does that mean?
This is being refuted by Marc Stein tonight.
Internet rumor wars.
"Great Balls Of Fire, Reggie's Back!"
It make more sense to Love then to Griffin
Wolves are promising but still a lot work to do. Love probably though: well if the Wolves stay the Wolves I’ll be gone a year earlier.

but he can also request a trade demand and still have that 5 year contract
or can’t the 5th year be a PO? like CP3’s
Ralph, "Last year so often with Blake Griffin you would see these things coming, with Paul, he's so crafty, all of a sudden boom there it is."
If I were Kevin Love
I’d turn the Wolves down flat for anything less for jerking me around and leave as soon as I can for free agency. Let them jerk somebody around.
Let's try that again.
If I were Kevin Love, I’d turn the Wolves down flat for jerking me around and leave as soon as I can for free agency. i’d compound my vengeance by turning down any trade before my obligation to the TWolves expired. I don’t see why players like Love can’t be just as tough in negotiations as they are on the floor.
Because Kevin Love is a RFA
replace Kevin Love with Blake Griffin and TWolves with LAC in your post and that is basically how many people see it. Kevin Love won’t refuse such a deal (max money, one less year) because otherwise he is one major injury away from missing on a big paycheck.

You don't talk about fight club
And you don’t turn down your first max extension to play for the QO.

I hope K.Love doesn’t make it to RFA. I know the Lakers will be coming after him hard, which will undoubtedly be enticing as he’s a UCLA product.
??? How are the Lakers coming after anyone hard?
They don’t have any cap room and need to shed money before 2014.
Fourth-year opt-out
ESPN reporting that Love insisted he could opt out after 3 in case he doesn’t like the direction of the franchise at that point.
