See you in Denver, EBled
I assume he’ll be in uniform.
In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. - Elwood P. Dowd
Very exciting
Much as we all expect him to be the trade piece that gets us the mystery bench player to put us into legit contender status for the playoffs, I have a feeling we will really need Bled’s playmaking/slashing/defense during the coming stretch of road trips and b2b’s. Hopefully he gets a chunk of Foye’s minutes as Olshey will at least need to showcase Bled for would be trade partners.
Or maybe he outplays Mo and becomes an untouchable? Not likely but intriguing nonetheless. . .

Do we expect him to be a trade piece. I don't.
Olshey traded to pick him. I don’t expect to see him moved at all. Olshey likes his guys.
He's the future PG or backup depending on CP3
NO picked him to develop into the Clips PG of the future.
If CP3 extends/resigns after 2 years then it will be revisited.

And Aminu was supposed to be our future SF. Olshey picked Bled up before we got CP
I love Bled and his potential, but with CP we are in win now mode. I hope Bled comes in and contributes right away, but he might take a few more years to develop. With gaping holes on our bench and a crowded backcourt, its only logical to think Olshey will at least entertain deals involving Bled to fill the other voids. I would say the same about Mo, but he’s just playing too well right now.

Ideally
We could trade Foye/Gomes for another bench player or two (as Steve suggested with his Childress/Frye idea). I am all for Neil exploring that option before Bled or Mo, but if we can’t find a taker for those guys, and fail to sign Kenyon or JR, its pretty obvious one of our two backup PGs will be used in a trade.

I think it could be easier to trade Foye and... don't laugh, but Cookie
since they are both expiring contracts. Gomes has another year left on his contract, plus i think he can play the 3 and 4 for now when we need a 2/3 and a 4/5.
The mistake in your post is, "we all expect him to be the trade piece..."
Obviously the “all” is an error. Newty and I don’t agree. No big deal.
I don’t expect Olshey to consider trades for him unless the trade is a whopper… and why would it be? What is Bledsoe worth? To my mind… not much. (Of course, I don’t think Foye or Gomes are worth anything either.)
But I also disagree that Bledsoe is the “point guard of the future”. There’s no longer an opening of that description on the Clipper’s roster. But I still don’t expect Olshey to trade him.
Bledsoe probably figures to be an insurance piece for when the front office has to make decisions about Williams and Billups. Then Bledsoe has more value to the Clippers AFTER this season.
Correct, I should have said 'many expect him to be the trade piece' not all
I do think Bledsoe does have potential to be a good PG in the league one day (his 1st season stats are identical to Rondo’s rookie year), and at the very least a solid backup, which is where i would agree with you- his value to this team really comes into play if Mo and/or Billups are gone after this year. But I think his potential gives him more value than Foye or Gomes, and who knows, if he impresses the next few weeks there could be a team out there thats willing to give us a nice piece for him. I would be thrilled if he ended up forming a great chemistry with Mo off the bench, but we shall see.

It will be refreshing
to have a bench guard that looks to slash, make plays and rely less on shooting 3s. Hope he can get some minutes in Denver and make a difference.
D League doesn't really mean shit.
All it tells you is who can’t play. Getting 30 12 & 12 is a hollow achievement. The people who play 20 mins a game and can’t put up stats are the ones you know cant play in NBA.
We will see if he has improved
Right now he will be our next best bench player.

The one thing I like is that Bledsoe coming back means less minutes for Billups. And that’s a plus right now.
Yeah well lets see how he does first.
He’s a high turnover player.

He can get to one end of the court almost has fast as Westbrook
Unfortunately last year he often left the ball at half court when doing so. Hopefully, the year of experience did him good.

Fastest, tiniest, completely defenseless, turnover-prone...
You should go back and watch some of last year’s games. Bledsoe was rarely good.
What year of experience.
Season ended in April (and he was just as bad in the end as he was at the beginning, lockout started in July, which meant no coaching, no organized practices, nothing but street ball, then he got injured somewhere in the first week of October. And he’s been down ever since.
I would expect nothing but the same as last year out of the guy.
Well John, I hope you saw my real point hidden in a statement of diplomacy.
This is also why I question the many Clips Fans who think he also has potential high trade value. He is a very athletic addition to the many tweener guards we have, another 1.5 guard. Welcome back Eric.

Went over my head I guess...
Sometimes I think I’m a half a step behind everyone on this blog, particularly about the value of guys like Bledsoe or the rookies.
I’m one of those people who believes point guards are born, not made. And Bledsoe is smaller than Billups who has been getting destroyed by bigger wings.
