Mo Williams for MWP?

Just for the defense.....

Star-divide

MWP is a great defender....and he still can play lock down defense against the high scoring wings around the league. They both make around the same salary and with Eric Bledsoe returning at full strength. You saw what he did to the Clippers last week. He gets under the skin of opposing players like no other. I think it's doable. Mo Williams is exactly what the Lakers need, and the Clippers just have too many guards, particularly point guards

Giving the Lakers Mo Williams for World Peace would automatically make them title contenders

Playing with Gasol, Bynum, and Kobe, Mo would be absolutely deadly. His defense would also be hidden by the good interior d.

Meanwhile, Metta is an awful defender under most circumstances, is very slow, has nothing offensively left in the tank, and loves to chuck shots.

HELL TO THE NO!

This makes a lot of sense

A lot of nonsense.

I’m sure there are other teams who would love to have Mo. The proposal is not bad, the player we’re getting in return is.

when you hear the Clippers, it’s not going to be a joke anymore. I can guarantee you that -BG32

It's a no-brainer...

and by that, I mean that anyone who would do that trade clearly lacks a brain. Come on now.

neeeever

that would help the lakers so much

by LJ Hann on Jan 30, 2012 4:38 PM PST reply actions

Absolutely not

Is MWP going to provide the same output off the bench as Mo Willy? And why should we care about helping the Lakers out?

by yaggiefresh on Jan 30, 2012 4:47 PM PST reply actions

just horrible...

I wouldn’t trade Gomes or Cook for that crazy bastard….and they both suck.

Dude has had one good game in two years, just happened to be against the Clips.

If we were to trade Mo, we would need to get someone a lot better than that. The way he is playing, they could get a quality player with some juice left.

Hell if you want crazy, call Gilbert Arenas, at least he’d be cheaper. If you want D, call Jamario Moon or Quinton Ross. Or talent wise, go to the D league, sign Manny Harris or trade a second rounder for Sean Williams…but keep that crazy bastard off of our team.

by Rubble44 on Jan 30, 2012 4:48 PM PST reply actions

I would absolutely trade Gomes for Artest.

His contract is only one year longer and he's waaaaaay more tradeable if only for his career numbers.

As useless as Gomes is

I rather have him for the simple fact you can amnesty Gomes but you can’t amnesty Artest.

As Lakers fans, we have enjoyed an interesting relationship with MWP.

I wouldn’t do it. Mo would create a log-jam at our PG, resulting in even more hurt feelings on a team that has had it fair share of ups and downs this year. Plus, I would miss Kevin Harlan saying METTA……WORLD….. PEACE!!!!

"They say that nobody is perfect. Then they tell you practice makes perfect. I wish they'd make up their minds." - Wilt Chamberlain

by SuperNerdToTheRescue on Jan 30, 2012 5:02 PM PST reply actions

And you wonder why you have such a problem at PG?

You are telling me, that you wouldn’t trade your slow, offensively challenged MWP for a Mo Williams who is in the best shape of his life who is shooting some of his highest numbers? That’s a joke. Honestly, this is extremely one sided for the Lakers, and no way would I ever offer this trade, but the fact that you are non existent in the PG position and you would rather keep some subpar 3 guard rather than getting a solid PG? This is why I don’t exactly have respect for Laker fans. You come in hear and try to show that you are not like the other, 90% of the obnoxious fans, but in the end, you prove that your knowledge as a basketball fan is extremely low.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 30, 2012 5:11 PM PST up reply actions

And interesting relationship?

One any given night, you can go from I HATE METTA to wow he won us the game! I agree, that is an interesting relationship. You call for his head 80% of the games, but the 20% where he does a decent job you think he is your savior. Consistency is a HUGE part of professional sports, and not that many Lakers can claim to have that asset.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 30, 2012 5:12 PM PST up reply actions

To be fair

We don’t know his disposition on Metta World Peace (unless you’ve looked up his prior posts). Frankly I thought his post was light-hearted and not abrasive to the Clippers or its fans.

Though it would (in my opinion) be a huge upgrade for the Lakers, all the guy is saying is that he doesn’t want a log jam at the PG position and I don’t think that’s anything to be upset with him about.

by yaggiefresh on Jan 30, 2012 5:22 PM PST up reply actions

To be quite honest, this was extending off of his other posts.

He tries to defend his fellow Laker fans and I feel that is a noble cause, but it’s futile on a Clippers blog. He also seems to be somewhat snippy like “What happened to the smart Clipper fans.” To me, that implies he thinks he is a smart Laker fan. I am pointing out that he shouldn’t be hypocritical. He feels we aren’t smart when he makes a comment that is far from smart.

by SurfinQ00 on Jan 30, 2012 5:35 PM PST up reply actions

I didn't say clipper fans weren't smart, kind sir.

I was wondering where the previous posters had gone as I was left with a one-sided argument.

So telling the truth is bad mouthing?

Pau Gasol talks the talk for 1 game and he thinks he can bully CP3. Am I going to take that? Of course not; it’s not an opinion if Pau pulled some crap on Cp3, it is a FACT, there is HARD evidence. Is it bad mouthing to say that Bynum is a punk? Well, I guess the handicap people should make way for the all might Bynum. He also leveled a 5’10 guy. So I’m sorry if you find the truth hard to take, but the Lakers are not the most deserving of respect. You’re right though, I may not show the most class to Laker fans, but you get back what you dish out.

Headline

I thought the headline was some sort of award. MVP, MIP (most improved), etc. I was racking my brain for what MWP would stand for. Metta World Peace did not occur to me.

For almost any other version of MWP, this trade might make some sense. But he’s been terrible this season, plus then there’s the fact that he’s insane. So no thanks.

I would not do it. MWP hit the old man wall...

put a fork in him and he even admits that he is bored so not just his body is breaking down but his intensity for the game. Mo should be up for six man of the year if he keeps doing what he is doing—finally found his niche
