Thunder=better rival then Lakers
With the way the west is shaping up the Thunder look to be the best. The Lakers may share our building but our on the decline and are clearly not as entertaining of a team to watch. I was saying tonight was a key statement game for the clippers and they played like it! You could see the frustration and anger in Durant cause he is clearly a winner and the thunder are a young nucleolus somewhat similar to the build of the clippers. So why not a best of the West rivalry with the Clippers and the Thunder they are clearly are newest toughest opponent to get past to win it all if you have the same vision I have!!!

not really.
the games with the lakers are chippy as hell.
Anyone catch KD's post game interview?
He was very upset. This rivalry is going to happen.
If I scored 35+ points and that resulted in a loss
I would be pretty dang upset too.
He was putting the blame on himself.
He said he should have shot less and looked to feed other people on the team. The day Kobe says that is the day I die of a heart-attack.
I think that was just his great character.
Yeah, I didn’t see that, but I think he is a great guy. Nobody on his team was shooting very well aside from him and Westbrook, and I think he made the right choice. I think it is frustrating knowing that you play an extremely stellar game and yet it isn’t enough to grab you the W.
Love the new school movement that's finally happening out west
First Thunder, now Clips, and soon to be TWolves…all on a promising trajectory over the Spurs//Suns/Lakers of the world.

Durant was Angry
When the reporter asked him about blakes dunk he lashes out in anger saying I don’t care about that and when confronted with the notion that he got out of Blakes way (which he did) he then got mad and blamed Reggie Evans.

Eh..
probably too soon. I mean, everybody knew that dunk was nasty, Twitter knew, Griffin knew, Durant knew, Perks new. There shouldn’t be much reason to ask those sorts of thing.

I'm quite surprised with Durant.
He often shows a role-model like character. He is optimistic even when they lose, I still think he was frustrated at his team, he was just keeping it inside him so nothing was sparked. Let’s be honest, when you are shooting lights out and you make 35+ points, and the rest of your team aside from 1 player decides to contribute only a couple of points, wouldn’t you be annoyed? Also, I was expecting a Derrick Rose like response from him. I think Rose’s post game interview showed his true character, he was the one to blame because he could have easily changed the game. Of course, without him, there would be no game to change, but still..
Yeah I don't blame Durant for his response
he is a true competitor and he is angry that they lost to the clippers especially after he played so well himself. Durant probably thought the reporter was rubbing salt in the wound and didn’t particularly feel like talking about the dunk and would have rather talked about the need for the Thunder to play better.

It's hard to have a rivalry with the Thunder
Not only are they pretty far away but their coach is an alum of UCI; ergo, their team should be loved by most.
I agree
I respect the Thunder and the way they were built. That being said, multiple playoff matchups would easily turn into a rivalry. it wasn’t too long ago, Lakers v. Kings was a rivarly, and Wizard v. Cavs, and Cavs v. Pistons were a rivalry, which is the kind of rivalry I could see with the Thunder. These kind really only last as long as both teams are good though. Lakers v. Clippers would much more easily become a rivalry just due to location. Like USC v. UCLA football, I mean, it doesn’t take consistent success to remain rivals, even if one team is heavily favored. Definitely takes at least a few years of competitiveness, which the Clips really haven’t established yet though.
This could become a rivalry.
Right now it’s the lakers, but they are on the decline and won’t be much competition if we continue to improve and they stay the same at best. So that won’t be much of a rivalry anymore, but if the Thunder and Clippers become the best of the West it could become a fun rivalry.
Rivalry?
It’ll take a few years of Clippers success going forward and the ability for the Lakers to stay relevant then rebuild later in the decade for a rivalry between the teams to truly develop. Would anyone characterize the early 1990s or mid-2000s, when the two teams were somewhat comparable yet mediocre, as a period of rivalry? Anyway, it’s great that a genuine rivalry appears feasible for the first time in a long time.
In addition, I don’t agree with the notion that the Clippers have to win at least one championship to develop that rivalry. For example, Lakers vs. Kings a decade ago was often fun . . . . . . while it lasted.
Anyway, here’s to success, since it’s the stuff rivalries are made of.
