So, I have to admit, this is unexpected. This Sunday Jordan Brand is holding an event dubbed CP3 Day in conjunction with the launch of Chris Paul's new Jordan shoe, the CP3.VI. Part of that event will be a celebrity/media basketball game, with teams captained by rappers Common and The Game.
And as it happens, playing in that game will be a particular Clips Nation blogger sometimes referred to as ClipperSteve.
I know, weird, right? I assume I qualify for the game as part of the "media" which seems like a stretch, but let's face it, "celebrity" would be a much deeper stretch.
Here are the details on the event from the official press release:
The L.A. Fire Academy will be transformed into a CP3.VI festival that will include product trialing, skills competition, music and food for the entire family. L.A. ballers will be able to show off their point-guard skills and test drive the traction control of the new CP3.VI with one lucky winner having the opportunity to play in the celebrity game with rappers Common and The Game (who'll serve as team captains), former NBA star Jalen Rose, actors Anthony Anderson (Guys with Kids), Jesse Williams (Cabin in the Woods), Pooch Hall (The Game; Jumping the Broom) Trevor Jackson (Eureka, Broadway's Lion King), Khleo Thomas (Holes; Roll Bounce) and Affion Crockett, Skyler Grey (12-year-old street artist), hip-hop journalist and influencer Karen Civil, DA Internz (Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer duo), Ice Latimore (Slamball), Willie McGinest (former NFLer and USC Trojan), James Davis (Funny or Die; Chelsea Lately), Hit Boy (Grammy-nominated rapper/producer), John Hart and singer BJ the Chicago Kid.
I guess they had not yet confirmed my participation at the time of this release, which is the only explanation for not including me by name.
So let's have a strong Clips Nation contingent there to support CP3, and more importantly to watch me try to defend Chris Paul for a few seconds. That has very high comedic potential of course.
The event is at the LA Fire Academy, which is at 1700 Stadium Way on the way to Dodger Stadium. The event starts at 2 PM and the game is slated for 4 PM.
