Steve has done a terrific job covering all the bases when it comes to the Clipper developments of the past year.So I will not rehash that here. But one issue I feel was overlooked? No. Not VDN. What really is going to tell the future? Is how well BG and CP3 mesh this year. Blake Griffin is a budding Superstar! CP3 is an established Superstar! Some of you will say? Here we go with the CP3 bashing. No not really.
This will be the key to future growth. If in fact CP3 decides to stick around. There is a fine line that Superstars must tread, when on the same Team. (see the Miami Heat) Who is the unqualified leader? Who is going to be the supporting Superstar? These roles were convoluted to me last year to be honest. At times? Blake looked to me to be the guy? At other times? CP3.
I will say this once and forever hold my peace. Make this Blake Griffin's Team! To me? This is the path to future growth. He has not reached his potential yet. But to me? He is more of the Franchise guy than CP3! No disrespect to CP3. I kinda feel CP3 will never accept this. This to me is potentially going to be the critical issue going forward.
Funny how that issue is being addressed when discussing the Lakers? Kobe coming out and saying. "This is my Team!" I respect that! Even though I hate the dude! That says? I am the leader! And guess what Nash? This is my team! Funny Nash's response? Let me tell you. I know Nash well. He believes he will be the leader! And Kobe's proclamation? Was a message? Not to the media? But to his team! And if Nash tries to usurp him? Which he will. Trust me I have seen it? Then there will be hell to pay! This is healthy for that team! Trust me!
Which brings me to this team? Who is going to grab the reigns? And along with it? The huge pressure that comes along with it? We will see! Really? If CP3 does so? So be it! If Blake does? So be it! But will the real leader of this team please manifest itself? My preference? BG! Maybe he is young. But the team responds to him! OK? I had my say! Will be interesting to see the developments.
