New Clippers forward Matt Barnes tweeted today that he was suspended by the NBA for one game following an incident in Manhattan Beach earlier this year.
Matt Barnes was arrested earlier this year for driving with a suspended license, and for resisting arrest. The charges were dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor, but the NBA has still found it appropriate to suspend him for one game.
The suspension is mysteriously late and I'm not sure how much precedent there is for a very late suspension following a misdemeanor, but the fact of the matter is that tomorrow night the Clippers will open their season without either of their new small forwards, due to Grant Hill's knee injury.
Barnes announced the suspension on his twitter page,
My suspension handed down by the NBA 2day is a #JOKE, but best of luck 2 my team 2maro vs a tough Memphis team ... tmi.me/yFv3J
Barnes will return to the team after his one game suspension.
Lamar Odom is expected to play Wednesday.
