Worst Part of Being A Clipz Fan
I've been a dedicated Clipz fan basically since Kobe Bryant joined the Lakers. It had less to do with me loving the Clipz, and more with me hating Kobe. But over time I grew to love my underachieving Clipper children. But this year... Oh goodness me oh my, the Clipz are at the head of the class! And here it is, the worst part of being a Clippers fan: NO ONE BELIEVES YOU'RE ACTUALLY A CLIPPERS FAN. Everyone just assumes you hopped on the bandwagon like all the other fairweather LA fans. What we need is membership cards with "date joined" info so we can differentiate the diehards from the posers. CLIPPER NATION!

If it makes you feel any better
It’s pretty much the same with evaluating Lakers “fans”…
"membership card"
that is basically my ex-clipper jerseys or old hats/apparel…anything i bought clipper related pre-Eric Gordon (or even pre-Chris Paul)
that and i’ve been an open Clippers fan all my life, everyone that really knows me, knows i’ve been a Clipper fan for a LONG time. i dont have to prove anything

I just tell them
I was a fan of Q Rich (does the hand to head thing everybody either loves to hates), Miles, and Odom days. They’ll know I’m legit.

Out of curiosity, why would you have hate for Kobe at the time he was straight out of Lower Merion High School?
Hilarious screen name, by the way.

It's his attitude!
I give Kobe all the credit in the world for his individual skills. But as far as team basketball is concerned, he’s about as bad as it gets. From the moment he joined the league, he was only interested in volume shooting. I’ve seen plenty of games where he literally shoots his team out of the game. I hear the argument all the time about how no one can do what he does; well, you give just about any professional NBA player 40 shots a game and he’ll put up the same numbers. Of course if anyone else does that, they’d probably be benched for not moving the ball.

People forget the playoffs
when he was a rookie and Eddie Jones was still on the Lakers team. Jones was open twice behind the three point line, but Kobe shot 2 air-balls. Kobe was a cocky d-bag when he got in league.
LOL, OK folks,
history has already put all this in perspective so no debate is needed or worthwhile.
So have you figured out how to prove that you’re not a bandwagoner?

we can recognize each other
We are usually respectful to other teams, we all hate Kobe, Fisher and Andre Miller.
Here's a way to spot some OG real Clippers fans from L.A.:

My friends respect my loyalty.
And many are fans of other teams. Of course I got flack for the previous seasons but this year one of them message me that I was one of the few if only clipper fan they knew that stuck with them before Blake and Chris Paul etc.
I’ll take that over a membership card. Haha
But seriously you are right. No one believes you are a fan. Sometimes I don’t believe it!

About two years ago I was at a party and people were talking about what NBA teams they’re a fan of. I mentioned that I’m a Clippers fan and one chick looked at me and goes “I didn’t even know you guys existed”.

find her...
knock on her door…
when she answers it tell her to wait
get your nerf basketball set and put the rim behind her
give her a Kendrick Perkins jersey
then before she knows whats going on….
put on your Blake Griffin jersey on and run full head of steam at her…
and dunk the ball ferociously! and after the play tell her…“that was for two years ago, you just got perk-i-lated!”

What?
I would’ve just said to Mozgov her.. That would’ve been more simple and fulfilling. ;)

My friends all know that I was a Clipper fan before Blake...
so they don’t give me shit. But it cracks me up when obvious bandwagon Laker fans claim that “all Clipper fans” or “all Heat fans” or “all Mavs fans”, etc. are bandwagoners. This, coming from the people who “rooted for the city” in 2006, who couldn’t take their car flags down fast enough after the sweep this year, and who are already demanding a Dwight trade that HURTS their team.
Pretty sad that they can’t accept that struggling franchises can and do have fans, and that their loyalty can be rewarded from time to time.
I can respect Laker fans who know basketball, but I have ZERO respect for people who just watch for stars and banners.

Funny conversation at a recent Clips game
Couple (not STHs) sitting next to us: She says “I know about the Lakers, but how do the Clippers fit into all this? I mean, they never play the Lakers, so are they in a different league or something?” To which her date responds “Yeah, that must be it, it’s a different league”. Fortunately these knuckleheads left at halftime and never returned (probably couldn’t find their seat again).
damn too bad,
too bad they didnt show highlights from when the Clips dominated the Lakers in their first matchup right when they were saying that

Meh, I don't really care about this stuff
I’m a Clippers fan and them winning makes me happy. I have no interest or need to prove that I was a Clipper fan through all the shitty years. I couldn’t care less what people think of me as a fan.
Plus, there’s tons of electronic evidence that we all supported this team during their craptastic years with Mardy Collins.
+1
I’ve following the Clips since ’92, and even though my friends would sometimes tease me about a being Clipper fan, I stayed loyal and there was never any problems.
Things in Clipper Nation are just blissful right now, and I sure as hell won’t let bunch of dumbasses spoil my fun and enjoyment for this Clipper team.
You are to Zach Randolph
as I am to Steve Novak. =)

Please don’t insult the god of our fan club again. Novak can make it rain donuts and Zach would eat it all until he’s the size of our Greek rookie (when drafted.) Let’s see Zach run up and down the floor now. :)

New Clips fan here.
I don’t consider myself a bandwagon fan, just a new(er) fan of NBA basketball. Since the ‘90s I haven’t paid much attention to the NBA or basketball in general, just football and more recently baseball. Well, to make a long story short I am interested in basketball once again and figure since the Clips have history in San Diego and apparently took the San Diego curse with them to L.A., I might as well add them to the list of professional sports teams I already root for that have never won a Championship (Chargers and Padres). Even if I am a bandwagon fan, it doesn’t matter because apparently I picked a hell of time to hop on. It’s been a great ride so far this season.
GO CLIPPERS!
you my friend could be a new breed of Clippers fan
a true Clippers fan that jumped on during the Blake/CP3 era…BUT still knows (or will learn) his stuff AND/OR picked the Clippers for reasons other than “Chris Paul is here now” or “Blake Griffin’s dunks are so awesome”
basically, just stay informed, stay smart, stay classy, and stay with the team no matter what
…that what it is to be a Clippers fan

Welcome
I’m actually one of the very few old-timers who used to be a season-ticket holder at the SD Sports Arena. We definitely need more Clips fans in San Diego — most abandoned the team when Donald Sterling screwed us after promising to keep them in SD and moved to LA (kinda like the Spanoses are doing to us now). Definitely a good time to join the bandwagon: The Clippers are a helluva lot more competitive (and more fun) than the Bolts or PAAAdres right now.

Just show them your Danny Manning jersey!
Thats how you show them your membership.
I'm pretty sure knowing who Danny Manning is would be enough

Rebracha, Ross, Richardson, Dan Dickau. Basically any obscure clipper favorite will do.

dan dickau... favorite?
Z was legit in the few minutes he could play. starting ross was one of the few things dunleavy got right. and pooh richardson warns his friends when the cops are coming, so you gotta respect that. but dan dickau… that’s one guy i never enjoyed in a clips uni.
Hey Dan Dickau nearly pushed the clippers into the playoffs

is if you can look someone straight in the eye and tell the truth by saying “kamenhomie always made me laugh no matter how the Clippers were playing”

I think I had a Benoit Benjamin jersey...
… it wouldn’t fit anymore. It must have shrunk.
Not really sweating it
I mean, I never bought a Swen Nater jersey or World B Free poster, but I’ve read every boxscore and watched every game I possibly could since the Clippers moved to San Diego all the while not living anywhere near where the team plays. Occassionally I would get to see them live when they played at MSG or Reunion Arena or in Philly. I’ve always made an effort to root for the team even when it was very difficult.
This season is the payoff for years of unrewarded loyalty. I don’t really give a sh*t what anyone thinks.
My ratty old SD Clippers T-shirt should do it

2) Flash it around whenever your fan legitimacy is questioned.
3) Nod your head and do the Q – Miles double hand to head thing.

No, it's the Clip Show!
lol i can see it now at the next Clips game
two fans will spot each other from across the hall and start a stare down
one will do the fist-head pump…
if the other responds in the same way-rejoice! a true fan! celebrate and have fun!
BUT if the other is confused and looks lost…..we’re going to have some trouble, bandwagon alert!

I've seen some horrible things in my time...
I’ve suffered through Benoit Benjamin, Keith Closs, Yaroslav Dunleavy, Jr (I still think he’s Dunleavy’s kid after an illicit affair in Russia which is why he was drafted) Keyon Dooling, Maurice Taylor, Tim Thomas and the worst #1 pick in history, Michael Olowokandi
I’ve watched Danny Manning and Shawn Livingston get hurt, Danny Ferry go to freakin Italy to avoid playing with the Clips. Elton Brand raise expectations and kick a whole fanbase in the nuts, Dunleavy put in a shorter ice cold Daniel Ewing and not imploring him to close out. Baron Davis grow three sizes in two monthsm, Lamar Odom throw up horrible shots every 4th quarter and Donald Sterlings racist ass sit there smugly lording over it all. I’ve earned my fan stripes and will go to war with anyone who says different.
Laker fans don’t even know people on their own roster this year so I don’t ever care about their rationale. I can only hope they stay on their bandwagon and stay out of the Clipper Nation.

Funny you say that. Some months ago the two biggest bandwaggoners I know called me out on being a bandwaggoner, saying, I was only a fan because of Blake, but I had the luxury to not need to defend myself, because a friend said “no, no, he’s been a Clippers fan for as long as I know him”… and they know he knows me for about 10-11 years. Funny enough the conversation went on about how awesome Blake is and how just the other day the rewatched his top ten for the umpteenth time.
I can also remember the stares I received years ago, when other basketball fans asked me, what my favorite club was. Thought I was joking, until I wore my Darius Miles jersey (there wasn’t that much choice if you wanted a Clippers jersey ;-))
I get the bandwagon thing, all of the time...
Right when we got CP3, I was at the grocery store with my Clip gear on, and the guy at the register says, “oh, you’re wearing the Clippers gear already, huh?”
I’m like, I have been wearing this here for years!!!
