Citizen Chrisd has the twitter feeds in his fanshot. This is Tom Ziller's article on same.

The basic info is that Kenyon Martin has apparently been given his official release from his Chinese team (by FIBA) and can sign with an NBA team.
Broderick Turner had KMart visiting Neil Olshey and VDN, here.
Marc Stein's tweets that Martin might want to go to a western team, here.
Apparently Martin's meeting with the Atlanta Hawks today, could make decision by tomorrow or the weekend.

I can't believe they actually closed the gap by 1 point because of that.

hey gotta give Oden some credit here

its not like he’s played a lot in the NBA

I hope he sees it's a perfect fit

Best money, plenty of available minutes as 1st big off the bench, and a legit chance to compete for the title. Only the Heat can offer both of the last two (unless he thinks ATL is a contender), and we can offer more $ than they can.

He also has a house in LA during the off-season

pretty sure I read this somewhere.

He would be a nice pickup. Just the bump it would give the Clips from taking away minutes from Jones and Gomes is big.

Help us Altered Beast you're our only hope.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 2, 2012 1:07 PM PST up reply actions

I read the same thing

Of course, I also read that his kids (and presumably baby-mama) also live in LA, which may be one reason he’d prefer to be somewhere else ;-)

Is it the best money?

From what I understand Atlanta has the mini-midlevel or the bi-annual. The Hawks might also be able to give him minutes with Horford out.

by John Raffo on Feb 2, 2012 1:28 PM PST up reply actions

Only vet minimum, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Also, it says here that they only met with a “representative” of Martin, not with Kenyon himself.

according to Eric Pincus

Atlanta still has their full MLE but won’t use it all cause they’d go over the tax.

Ah, that explains why the AJ-C guy said they "probably" would only offer vet minimum

Who else has he met with?

I thought the Knicks can offer him the mini-mle as well.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 2, 2012 2:24 PM PST up reply actions

Yes, Knicks can offer the same amount we can

They just can’t offer a chance to compete.

They can offer him more PT though

and its NY. Wouldn’t write them off.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 2, 2012 3:32 PM PST up reply actions

Much less worried about them than MIA or ATL

I read somewhere (Woj?) that the Knicks aren’t pursuing him that aggressively because they have a bigger hole at the guard spots. Between that and the fact that he can play as many minutes for as much money with a better team in LA, I feel fairly confident that he’d choose us over NY.

Thanks for the shout out and it's not even my birthday!

I hope Kenyon picks the Clippers today, gets his physical tomorrow and is ready for a few minutes against Orlando on Monday. I have a dream too.

K-MART signs with LAC

I guarantee it.

No, it's the Clip Show!

by dan73962 on Feb 2, 2012 1:40 PM PST reply actions

I hope so

As much as I love Reggie, we desperately need some scoring off the bench.

Reggie and K-Mart

We can def usually them both at the same time in our second unit. Both are great rebounders and K-Mart can help with the scoring

we need to Steve to say there is no chance he will sign here

here's a new report just posted from Yahoo Sports by Adrian Wojnarowski

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_kenyon_martin_nba_020212

It basically says that one rival executive says the Clippers are his best choice to showcase his talents for 1 season for a new contract next year because he’d be the 3rd big with no competition around for that spot.

Swami mentioned the Hawks

He could be offered a temporary potential starting job since Horford is out.

Went down to SSR

They are so convinced Kenyon will sign somewhere else and that CP3 is gonna leave after his 2nd season here.

But… why would he leave, especially with how this team has played recently? Is he gonna go to the diminishing Lakers where he’s gonna play with an old Kobe, a soft Pau and an injury prone Bynum? I don’t understand Laker fans _

If we go into the playoffs deeper than the Lakers or even deeper than CP3 has gone

before, I find it hard for him to just get up and leave. But then again, Neil has to make sure CP3 and Blake get the pieces they need.

by lovinglosangeles on Feb 2, 2012 3:01 PM PST up reply actions

Can't really blame them

They don’t have much going for them, it seems like Dwight will be a Net so Deron is also likely out of the picture, not to mention Deron has said he hate the Lakers if i recall correctly.

Didn't even know they had K-Marts anymore.

Personally, I always liked them because of their super random/out dated stuff. I remember going there and finding all these rare, old, but in new condition video games. Not to mention mine also had half of the things on the shelves on clearance; oh the good old days before 3 targets and 1 walmart came into my town.

Checking out a blog Miami Heat fans have KMart already all signed up and suit up

Just waiting for Laker fans to tell us KMart is joining them and they’re giving us McRoberts for Mo.
