Bill Simmons posted a three team trade on FB including the Lakers, Rockets and Sixers that wasn't too great. But it got me to thinking. If the Lakers are so bent on trading Pau Gasol.....and the Rockets covet him so much...who's to say that the Clips can't be the third team in and make a trade to fill the gaping hole at the 2? I post this knowing several things:
1. I'm sure the Lakers and Clippers would rather trade with Iraq than with each other.
2. Looking this trade over, I think it fills needs for every team. But it may give the Lakers a slight advantage. Let me explain my rationale after I give you the particulars.
3. The Clips would be getting a guy that probably hates them and while a Dbag, he's one of those "love him if he's on our team" types.
The Lakers get: Luis Scola and Mo Williams
The Rockets get: Pau Gasol and Ryan Gomes (I put Gomes strictly for the numbers to add up, they could take Foye or even Cook and it would work)
The Clippers get Kevin Martin and Matt Barnes
The Clippers lineup would look like this
PG - Paul, Foye, Bledsoe
SG - Kevin Martin, Foye, Leslie
SF - Butler, Barnes, Thompkins
PF - Griffin, Kenyon Martin, Evans
C - Jordan, Evans, Cook
The starting five would be lights out. The problem may be offense in the second unit, but Bledsoe, Foye, Barnes, Evans and Kenyon, that would be an attacking lock down unit.
The Rockets have already traded about Martin and Scola for Gasol. The Lakers would get a PG and a replacement for Gasol. I think it could be a great deal all the way around.
