Clipper Fans, Ryan Gomes and Twitter
Dear Clips Nation Citizens,
It is no secret that Ryan Gomes has caused us all pain, headaches and heartburn in some games. Hard to deny. But as Clipper fans, we have shown that we support our team through thick and thin and know how to stay classy and above other fans.
I missed what happened after the game on Saturday. However, in reading the different comments posted on that thread, I got an idea as to what transpired here and on Twitter.
Early today, I went on Twitter and sent a couple of positive tweets to Gomes and to the Twitter world and I would like to share those with you:
All abuse and hatred directed at @GotGomes and his family not from true Clipper fans. But from bandwagoners. #Clippers #NBA
@GotGomes Good luck tonight. Stay positive.

Nice gesture
I’ve never liked Twitter and what I thought it stood for, but I’m gonna follow your lead and create an account for the sole purpose of showing Gomes the support he needs from Clipper fans.

Good call
Gomes’ problems are largely in his head. He’s never been great, but he’s never been this bad. And history very clearly shows us that the vast majority of players don’t just suddenly get worse, especially when they A) are in the prime of their career, B) have no significant injuries, and C) are playing next to a guy like Chris Paul.
And do you know what doesn’t help when a guy is having mental issues holding him back? People attacking him personally whenever he makes a mistake, and completely ignoring any time he does well. The fans need to embrace Gomes and be appreciative of the fact that he’s one of the last remnants of the Clippers of Old. The Clipper of Old were a bad team, but they were OUR bad team. We loved them. Yes, I was frustrated that Gomes and Foye and Cookie missed shots all the time, but it was a paternal frustration, like watching my kids underachieve. They were my boys, and at the end of the day, I was going to find a way to defend them. Gomes and his wife are an inspiration in a league filled with philanderers. Foye has always been extremely nice and friendly during autograph signings, and he’s never once had a bad attitude and complained about coming off the bench. Cookie has his moments, and he had really, really great sideburns for a while there.
Sure, that’s a completely delusional way to look at thins, but isn’t that what die-hard fans are all about? We, like mindless lemmings, support the name on the front of the jersey, and as a result, we support the name on the back of the jersey. (Unless it’s Andre Miller.)

Well written and a good analogy
by comparing the Clippers to your kids.

Alotta Pressure!!!
Gomes has got to become more agressive!! he gets a few rebounds which is good but i think he is caught up in the 3 pt shot. He should drive the ball more and get easier shots. Jus because paul williams and butler are knockn down the three, he feels that pressure..
i hope he gets his stats up higher fast
otherwise, no one would trade for him
Clip Clip Hooray!
