Breaking News: LAC didn't invent flopping

OK, we've heard a lot of "complaining" about the Clippers flopping this season. I'm assuming Jazz and Nuggets fans are especially upset because they lost those games. Clearly, flopping is a new phenomenon in the NBA given the recent outrage from non-clipper fans. But wait, there's also this new thing called YouTube! and *gasp* the Nuggets and the Jazz and every other team in the NBA flop too. Seriously though, flopping is a part of the NBA period. Until the league decides to punish flopping (with a technical foul or other punishment) or refs stop calling them, flopping will live on. Obviously, refs don't always catch flopping (which is kind of the point) which means teams use this as an advantage. NBA champions flop. It's not new, it's not cheap, it's SMART.

I was going to post on that big Andre Miller thread yesterday

But wasnt in the mood to argue with those trolling Nuggets fans and their ‘Flop City’ taunts. They sounded like children name calling on a schoolyard.

Flopping is part of the game. Every team does it, most good players do it to some degree. Deal with it. 5 time NBA champion Steve Kerr defended Blake on Laker’s flagship station when they mentioned all the fans calling in about Blake flopping, saying basically, drawing charges/fouls is something winners do, and sometimes you have to sell it a bit to the refs. He said ‘Blake is a winner’.

These fans of other teams calling Blake and the Clippers ‘Floppers’ are just jealous because we have the most exciting team in the league and we are winning as well, as Bill Simmons said, this Clipper team is the most entertaining contender since the 07 Suns. With winning and media attention, haters are inevitable. But the notion that Blake is only a dunker and flopper are utterly moronic, look at his numbers people. You wish Blake was on your team.

What Blake does is not flopping

there is always contact, he merely sells the contact. Is it annoying a little, but it is necessary because referees won’t call the foul unless the player hits the floor.

Yep- Steve Kerr said something like that about Blake. People call it flopping but its really just a way to get the refs attention to a foul that they probably wouldn’t see otherwise.

Those Championship Chicago Bulls had a lot of haters as well. If you’re a good contending team, you’ll have haters, and if your really bad, fans make fan of you. If I had a choice, I’d rather be hated on.
