Isn't this the same site that said we we're going to sign Afflalo?

Not so sure i believe it, NY can offer more $ and a starting spot, and i believe we can offer the same amount as Lakers (vet min). Wouldnt he rather play with his old teamates CP, Kenyon, and Billups? Eh, whatever.

Your quote itself states that he is a UFA

Wilson Chandler is a RFA. Smith is UFA. So he is either signing somewhere else for whatever they have, or he is signing with the Clippers for what we have. What we have is the veterans minimum, and two TPEs, the biggest one being worth 3.8 million.

Also, I think we did the math.

Even if we decided to make those TPE’s into cash, we would be above the cap space, so it wouldn’t make a difference.

I just said Denver because they can exceed the cap to offer him by using their bird rights.

But Denver might not want to help us. Would some bad EC team really care about giving us JR Smith? The TPE is worth a little, at least, while they have no investment into how the WC playoffs go down.

again, ask yourself this

do you want to play for the Lakers with a ball hog like Kobe, play in Chicago with a ballhog like DRose, play in NY with a ball hog like Melo, or play with a pass first PG? Seems like a no brainer to me
