Something is wrong

when Jeremy Lin and Steve Novak is consistantly your top two players..

And they’re winning. (Not that beating Washington is saying much, but they still beat NJN and UTH.)

They look like they are sleep walking.

They don’t have Chauncey to bail them out with timely 3s. Keep playing like this. This will be a worse loss than the Minnie game.

by Rakelds79 on Feb 8, 2012 5:22 PM PST reply actions

If they're planning on sulking through the rest of this road trip because Chauncey got hurt...

then I don’t expect another win for the whole trip. Can’t beat anyone on the road like this.

There has been a strong wagon of fans because of CP3 and I guess the Clipper community is getting attacks of being “fake” fans and suddently appearing. As Clipper fans, we’ve always been, or atleast most of us, have been loyal to our team, thus why we would like to keep our fanbase knowledable and loyal.

But hey, I’d welcome you. We had an Eric Gordon fan here once and now he’s disappeared. I’ll assume you’re a CP3 fan and disappear when/if CP3 is gone too.

Heres what I don't mind

just because we are down 11 doesn’t mean we are going to stay down 11.

I was at the Oracle Center yesterday. There were numerous times the Thunders were down 6, 9, 11, whatever. The funny thing was, everybody got a sense that even though the Warriors were up 6, the lead wasn’t secure. The Thunders could strike at anytime.

Somewhat same goes for today’s game. I’m not watching the game, and I’m sure the Clippers look very very crappy right now. But there is this sense that the Clippers are still within striking range, and the Cavs probably know it too, thus why they’re still attacking. This game isn’t over yet and all the players have to do is pull a string of good plays and a few defensive stops to put this game back into view.

The media and Laker fans hyped up and celebrated their win over the Clippers, and all it took was one Blake Griffin dunk for the media to completely forget about it. The Clippers need to worry being the best team they can be, not about shutting up the Laker fans.

I’m hoping tonight they got their “woe is us, Chauncey’s out for the season” out of their system, that the loss woke them up and reminded them that the still have some games to play. If not, this shortened season is going to feel like a long one.

This loss scares the shit out of me.

I really hoped they’d show some heart tonight for Chauncey, but they had one of their worst and laziest performances of the season instead. Really? THAT’S how we respond?

Foye had 15 points

Probably what we would expect from Chauncey. This lies all on DJ and Mo having crappy games. Oh and sessions having a career night.

it was Mo that left Gibson open

not sure if you saw PT recently but they just showed that play and Mo walked back lazily and lost Gibson.

Definitely a game where things that could go wrong did,

And while we lament losing to a team losing their top players…if their other players step up and have great games, it’s irrelevant then

by UC.Clipper on Feb 8, 2012 6:42 PM PST up reply actions

Not to be debbie downer but I personally already count that as a loss.

with them winning in Cle, Cha. and losing in Phi and Dal. to go 4-2. but now they have to make up for this horrible loss.

why didn't bledsoe play?

instead we forced mo to be the backup point therefore taking away his shooting. Is this coach really this stupid??

VDN is basically Cleveland-era Mike Brown.

The players are coaching themselves. I’m really just sick of him.

Guys, we have to stop making every loss - whichever team is involved - a disaster.

Seeing the bright side, and taking every downfall as a learning experience is the right attitude. We will get better chemistry after that game (there were some roster changes, remember?), and every players will learn something out of it. Now, let’s move on to the same game. And again, please stop worrying or caring at all about what Lakers fans say, they are Lakers fans, we are Clippers fans, as well as the media’s outtakes (some of those guys try their best to get tasty stories to make a living ok?). This is our team, and we are in the battle with our guys, always looking up!

We need to learn from our mistakes.

For some reason, I feel our rotating on defense hasn’t improved in….. the whole season? A little pick and roll shouldn’t destroy our team, especially not as badly as it did tonight. And then Mo getting lost on defense? What was that? We need to improve on defense, but I’m fine with this loss. Better we start learning during regular season.

by SurfinQ00 on Feb 8, 2012 6:45 PM PST reply actions

That would require something we lack...

COACHING.

I'm tired of seeing the pick & roll on every play.

I’m not call for a Dunleavy kind of play calling system but Vinny is on the other end of the spectrum. There has to be a happy medium.

by cliptakular on Feb 8, 2012 6:48 PM PST up reply actions

Me too. This team can do so much more than high pick and pop/roll and Dump to Blake inside.

He admittedly has no creativity and that is a problem. If he can’t do it he should have an assistant that can. This and their bad defense is a reason I for one would like to see him replaced. And it’s not because of this loss. I thought this even in the wins. Their talent is what’’s carrying them now. They need to be more solid on both ends. Not so hot and cold.

by Rakelds79 on Feb 8, 2012 6:55 PM PST up reply actions

Vinny saying it was aggression.

Sure, they could have been more aggressive on offense, but you know what he needs to learn? HOW TO COACH ROTATING ON DEFENSE. My God, stop saying that you had a weak approach, you had weak coaching!

It's bad enough that I have to watch Norv Turner use the same exact excuses...

during football season. I don’t think I can handle Norv 2.0 (VDN) for much longer.

I agree that a team goes down as a team.

But he has to stop saying “We” “We” “We”. He forgets one thing, he needs to coach them. When Mo isn’t even on anyone or they get killed on a simple pick and roll (and at the same time they only pull of Pick and Rolls) then you know there is something wrong with your coaching.

by SurfinQ00 on Feb 8, 2012 6:55 PM PST up reply actions

Against minny we didn't have CP3 or Caron

I think that that is much more of an excuse. Also, not having Chauncey can’t be our excuse. He is gone.

I think we only should play Mo and CP3 together in the closing stages

Mo isn’t that useful in the half-court setting where CP3 thrives.

What?

Did we just lost to the cavs? I was on the way home from work and took a quick glance at the opening game thread on my phone. Found out Irving is out. So, I assumed we’ll get an easy win.
Got home, turned on the tv and I was stunned at the final score. I had to make sure I saw the score right. Darn it!
