New Member-Trade Suggestion
Hey clip nation! I never had a favorite team before this season. I love Blake Griffin and before the Cp3 trade I finally picked a team to root for. Now we have CP3. Crazy! Yeah and I never liked the Lakers. Anyway now after my introductory you think we should do this trade:
Clippers trade Randy Foye/Ryan Gomes/Brian Cook/ 2nd round pick
Gets Shawn Marion/Domonique Jones
Why I think we should?
Chauncey is injured likely done. Caron was playing very well at the 2 before he got injured last year. Gomes is trash and Foye is a very streaky shooter. We basically aren't giving up anything really. Dallas wants flexibility and Gomes contract is half of Marion's plus they want expirings.
Our line up
sg Caron Butler/Mo WIlliams/Dominique Jones
sf Shawn Marion/Travis Leslie
pf Blake Griffin/Kenyon Martin/Trey Thompkins
c Deandre Jordan/Reggie Evans
What do you guys think?

Dallas
Dallas won’t do it because of Gomes. They would like to get rid of Marion’s contract, but they won’t take back Gomes’ deal in the process — they will want to do better than that given that their goal will be to clear all their cap space.
Having said that, with trade rules in the new CBA, I believe this trade works without Gomes. Clippers can take back up to 150% of the salary that send out, and Marion (without Jones) just fits for that. So would you do Foye/Cook for Marion? It’s a lot of extra salary to take on, but it does improve the team this year.

I like it
Marion has become a very solid wing defender. Something the Clippers could definitely use.
Of course the Mavs would pretty much be giving up on the season with this trade and going all in for Howard or Dwill or both in the offseason. Guess it all depends on what Orlando does with Howard after the all-star break.
I'd do it
The phrase “new member” combined with “trade suggestions” made me worry, but this is actually a good deal (assuming the Mavs are that serious about 2012 cap space, which they seem to be).
any way we can pry Nic Batum?
he’d be a nice addition….

As Steve says, we’d probably have to keep Gomes. I’m ok with that.

Sounds good
But what about Salary concerns? If the site below is accurate, we take on a lot of additional money and go over the cap the next couple years, limiting our flexibility. However, he is exactly the player we need to guard Kobe and Durant so maybe it’s worth it even if I worry about his age.
I think Bledsoe may need to go
Dallas could actually use him, too. Bledsoe/Foye for Marion works. Marion is months same deal as Butler, amd both would expire at’the same time
Would we really have to include Bledsoe
Dallas is going to need to do the trade and if we are willing to take the contract we may only have to give expirings and maybe a second rounder.
welcome to the Cliplet family Alexis!
Anyway in your your trade for us to keep Brian Cookie Crumbs?
Clip Clip Hooray!
If you like Foye and Cookie
you’d probably like Marion a lot more.

I think he means Bled and Cookie
If Cook is going to be any part of any deal, he holds no value to the team.
Who knows what he meant
maybe he just looked at the paragraph and not the comments.. I mean, the original writing never included Bledsoe..

“I would make this deal for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich”
Isn’t that about what the Lakers gave up for Pau Gasol?
