That disgusts me.
Sure, the Clippers had a bad game, every team does. But for him to rip the players and just overlook his whole purpose? If they can’t get motivated to win, HE HAS TO MOTIVATE THEM. If they can’t get their shots to fall, HE HAS TO DRAW UP PLAYS WHICH AREN’T JUST PICK AND ROLLS AND JUMP SHOTS. If Jamison and Sessions are killing you over and over again with the same play, HE HAS TO MAKE CHANGES ON DEFENSE AND COACH THEM ON ROTATIONS. Overall, sure, the players had their issues; DeAndre was non-existent, Mo was blowing layups, and the shots were just not falling for them, but every team has a bad game, and instead of being annoyed at the team, VDN should be thinking, “What can I do so that doesn’t happen anymore?”
VDN is right
As a coach, you call this stuff out. You don’t baby players. THEN you work on what needs to be done. This is a game that the team should have easily won. I’m glad there’s accountability here.

I agree that he was right.
But I don’t agree with his actions following the game. He should hold accountability on himself too, especially when he didn’t make any adjustments on defense until the last couple of minutes.
Vinny the Black is right
If this article is true and correct,he saw what I saw, which was a lackadaisical effort. The clips acted like this was a gimme game(which it should have been, but you dont play like it is) they all looked lost and out of their element.
Coach is the weakest link!
If your team is not motivated it’s the coaches fault! It’s his job to prepare the team for the game ahead, which he most definitely did not do. I figured that when the Clips hired him, it was for his motivational skills especially with young players, because it certainly couldn’t be his X and Os. He WAS fired from a decent Chicago team for his lack of X and Os. So VDN why don’t you be a man, have your teams back, tell the media it’s your fault, then rip the team privately behind closed doors and figure out a decent game and motivational plan for next game.
How long did it take him to figure out to put Caron on defending the pick and roll. The guy is an assistant coach in head coaches clothing! I always felt that Sterling picked the slick VDN because he looked like a sharp dressed salesman and passed on Tom Thibodeau’s bad looks and non-salesman like pitch. Man I wish we had Tom or Rick Adelman. Hell I wish we had Larry Brown!
I'm interested to know who the players were that were more concerned
bout their touches. Who do you all think he is talking about?
