Starting from the trade for Chris Paul, and all the way through the acquisition of Nick Young at the trade deadline, the Clips, as an organization, have never experienced anything close to a season like this. The dynamics have got to be head-spinning for DTS, even during his occasional moments of (err) clarity. Not to worry though because everything's-gonna-be-OK, if you ask Mr. Olshey
Speaking of Olshey, for now he deserves two thumbs up. Not just for transforming the team into a veteran contender, but also for appearing to have a strategy behind the moves, unlike his GM predecessor.
So on paper, by playoff time, this Clipper team should have a (crazy) inside, outside, and transition game; They should have a cohesive defensive identity; and they should contend for the WCC.
Unfortunately, for coach VDN the games aren't played on paper, so that means the spotlight's on you bro. As the 3rd leg on the stool, your counterparts DTS & Olshey are watching you closely. They know that at the very least they have assembled a bonafied WCC contender. They also know they have a short window to make it happen. So for you it's not enough to just hold up your end of the stool.
Suddenly, you're in this narrow pathway where you can't bend, you can't wobble, and you gotta be solid under the pressure. How you navigate this path will determine if you make the playoffs, and if so, how far do you go.
Truth-be-told, if you had won the games that you should have won, then right now, you'd be the talk of the town. Not that you're a bad coach (I like you as a person) but we all want to know is are you're the right coach for this team...We'll find out over the next 2 months. During that time hopefully, you'll be coachin yo ASS off!
Good luck sir.
