This is something that has been debated before, but I don't think has not been truly Resolved.Or maybe it has.Who made Who?Did Micheal Jordan make Phil Jackson or vise versa?Did Tim Duncan make Greg Popovich,or vise versa?Coach or Player? With all the Coaching revolving door action going on,I think speaks volumes.Or maybe Coach is the wrong Title?Maybe it should be Support Guy or Co Dependent Dude. Can a Coach take a Player to another Level or is the Player only realizing the Potential that he was going to achieve anyway? It is something I debate in my mind sometimes.Has the Role of the Coach been properly defined? Are NBA coaches given undue praise for their role?
I do agree they deserve some credit. But I am of the mind that their role is way over blown. They certainly have an influence ,but is it to the degree that warrants all the Praise/Criticism heaped upon them?It would be a gravy job to sit and watch Tim Duncan play.He already has the will to win.Quite another to Coach Players who have no will to win in the first place.Everyone Loves and praises a winner and criticizes the loser.Maybe just maybe the Greg Popovich's of the World are not as great as given credit for and maybe just maybe the Vinny Del Negro's of the World are not as inept as one would think. Is the Coach's role a true leadership role?Or is it more of a Cheerleader role? You got to support a Legend? So what?He was going to win anyway. Is a so called great coach going to get you over the hump?Naaaaaah! I think not.I have witnessed a lot of NBA Basketball ,my remembrance is Legendary Players making Legendary Plays to Will their Teams to Victory.Coach?Coach? I don't remember no Coach?
