First off, I apologize if this is just part of what will seem like a flood of ideas from tons of different people. Alas it seems a specific thread for this kind of stuff would be ideal... but i'm not the person to do such things.
Second off, I'm not sure if anyone else has suggested this..part of me thinks someone has....but alas, I'm not sure.If you have already, definitely chime in.
Anyhow, I've been searching around all day and I can't really think of a team that would be really willing to take on M.Williams. His $8.5 million contract isn't exactly worth his production. However, if I'm not mistaken, it seems that Orlando's Jameer Nelson will be opting out to test free agency. Perhaps he's bluffing, I'm not sure. That aside, I'm pretty sure no Orlando fan wants Chris Duhon running their ship. Secondly, they would want to keep their mid-level exception, if they have one, to be spent on something else. Hence:
The Clippers would send M.Williams + Ryan Gomes
The Magic return with Hedo + their 19th overall draft pick.
From their 2012 numbers, Hedo had similar percentages to Caron Butler. Hedo had more assists while Butler scored a bit more (and had better FT%).
Perhaps the Clippers don't exactly need Hedo's bloated contract, but I couldn't exactly think of anyone else that the Clippers could really fetch with the contracts of Gomes and Williams. At least Hedo would provide length (6'10'') and some versatility. Additionally, for sucking up that last year of his contract, the Clippers would request the 1st round pick from Orlando. Whether this pick is trade fodder or used as cheap depth filler, I wouldn't know.
Thoughts?
