Dwight Howard wants out of Orlando, the events of today notwithstanding, a source close to Howard tells SheridanHoops.com On the day coach Stan Van Gandy and general manager Otis Smith lost their jobs with the Magic, a source who has spoken with Howard recently said the All-Star center desperately wants to be traded prior to the start of next season. And although the Brooklyn Nets are still considered the frontrunner, “it is not going to be a one-horse race,” the source said, listing the Mavericks, Knicks and — to a lesser degree — the Clippers and Lakers as among the destinations that would appeal to Howard. Now I realize who the source is but I wouldn't mind seeing D12, Blake and CP3 playing together in a Clippers uniform next season. The question becomes what would NO have to do to make it happen? The Clippers have Blake's Bird Rights which would help get it done. The Clippers are at about $57 million in salary for 2012-13 with an additional current 2012-13 cap hold of about $18 million. I am no "capologist" but I would think that if the NO makes a trade for D12 that DJ and his $10.5 million salary for next season would be headed to Orlando as part of the trade. D12 is scheduled to make $19.5 million next season.
So I will leave it up to others to figure out all the pieces in a D12 trade and how the dollars might work in putting D12 in a Clippers uniform for 2012-13.
