It would lop off some salary off the books and hopefully put the Clippers in a better position to resign a free agent such as Nick Young. Maybe with this trade and a Gomes amnesty, the Clippers could have cap space? How it benefits Blazers: PDX gets a veteran stop gap PG in Mo Williams who is on an expiring deal, which would allow the Blazers to preserve their cap space for future use such as free agency in 2013.
