With the Lamar deal done, we can start to shift our minds to free agency. As of now, these are the players still on the team:
Guards: CP3, Bledsoe, Leslie
SF: Butler, Gomes,
Bigs: Griffin, DJ, Odom, Thompkins
I would hope that Leslie and Thompkins get an opportunity to play, but I still doubt they will be productive. Obviously, our major concern should be a SG. The FA's that we can make offers to are:
Guards: Billups, Young, Foye
Bigs: Evans, Martin (Simmons is our only SF)
I think we can eliminate Martin and hopefully Foye from the people we will resign. Ideally, I would really love it if we resigned Billups, Young, and Evans. That fills up our roster a bit, but we would still most likely need a starting SG and a backup C with size. Who do you guys think we should go after?
Here is a list of names being thrown out:
Possible: Allen, Crawford, Belinelli
Unlikely: Rush (GSW will match), Lee (HOU will match), Mayo (will most likely be overpayed
The bigs on the other hand are very limited. Personally, I think our best bet would be to free up cap space via amnestying Gomes and claiming Haywood off amnesty waivers (assuming he gets amnestied which I believe he will). Honestly, this would be my ideal, yet somewhat plausibe roster:
I believe that this lineup has numerous options rotation wise (but knowing VDN, the rotations will be a 5 guard lineup), not to mention, the mix of youth and veteran experience is pretty balanced. Examples of rotations: come crunch time and we need some veteran leadership out there, we can go small, but strong offensively:
DJ (assuming he is somewhat crunch time ready)
This lineup stretches the floor and 3/5 are deadly come crunch time. Or we can go for a more run and gun rotation:
Honestly, I think we have so many options to run with, I am VERY excited for this season!
