Clipper Chris Paul and Laker Kobe Bryant are to start in the backcourt for Team USA, with Kevin Durant and Lebron James as forwards. Tyson Chandler will start at center. The usual suspects.
For France, Spur Tony Parker will start and perform at the point, albeit an eye injury after a New York City nightclub fight. Nando de Colo will join Parker in the backcourt with France, and with the Spurs this coming season after he signed a two-year deal, previously playing in Spain and France. Nicolas Batum, the Blazer forward, will be featured at forward, as well as Spur Boris Diaw. Kevin Sepharin, of the Washington Wizards, will most likely start at center.
On the France bench, Ronny Turiaf assumes the role as sixth man. As a recently acquired Clipper, he and Chris Paul look to represent the Clipper Nation at today's game. Turiaf has been teammates on NBA teams with USA stars Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, and most recently, Lebron James.
France will also feature former 5-year NBA swingman Yakhouba Diawara, who has played with Carmelo Anthony while playing for Denver. To round out the France roster that has NBA experience, Mickaël Gelabale will also come off the France pine, as a former SuperSonics small forward.
Expect the USA to take advantage of the absence of the French Joakim Noah. Perhaps we might see more than a glimpse of a Chandler-Turiaf matchup.
