My Take on Fixing the Clippers

What a horrendous start. Words can't describe the disappointment, but there are still 69 games left. Don't panic.

Here are the changes I propose Doc makes:

Short Term (Next 5-10 Games) - 1. Learn how to manage minutes: the team is clearly fatigued late in games (especially Blake) and the team can't afford Jamal, Austin and Lance on the floor at once or even Jamal and Pierce. 2. Fix that horrible court design. I saw a great suggestion in the fan posts, but who would want to play on that monstrosity. 3. Start Wes Johnson. A starting lineup of Paul/Redick/Wes/Blake/DJ is a defensive force, with Blake's improvements only JJ is the real liability. Off the bench, Austin and Jamal should never be on the floor together, neither can pass. Get Josh Smith and Mbah a Mhoute playing the 3 and 4, maybe a bit of small ball Blake can spark some runs too.

Long Term (If we have 20 losses, before 15 wins) - 1. Trade Jamal - I would say Austin, but yeah, so Jamal and his expiring contract could fetch a decent shooter of the 76ers like Robert Covington or even to an eastern conference contender. 2. Trade Redick - Hang on now, this is extremely conditional, but IF the Clippers are looking terrible and Phoenix aren't starting one of my favourite players of last year's draft Devon Booker, trade for him. I think JJ/Jamal, our first and a bad contract we buy out could push a deal over the line if they want to contend, as a rookie won't provide much in the playoffs. Booker is 6'6", 36" vertical, can handle the ball, has above average defence and is a sniper from 3. I think JJ's lack of shot creativity and defensive ability costs us when CP gets doubled. Starting caliber vet, a potentially 15-25 range first and a bad contract for the potential next Klay Thompson? Sign me up.

Post Season - All the shit in the world hits the fan. Doc must get sacked, then get Jeff Van Gundy or Tom Thibedeau before someone else picks them off. Doc just got out-coached by Luke Walton (another option, but a second year assistant nonetheless), is Doc that good? He just has been a shocking GM, and he has not actually got us much further than Vinny Del Negro who had Donald Sterling blocking a lot of his trades. So is Doc actually better than VDN (an average coach), yes because the west is even tougher now, but he has a better roster to match it, does not have a meddling owner and whilst he has some great situational plays, he fails to patch up things even us spectators can see. Chris Paul demanded him, he has had 2+ seasons now to take us further than Vinny did. Lets hope Austin goes if he does too.

As a fanbase: Let's not panic. Just get the rotations right and we could go very far. If Doc is to get sacked - anything less than us being .500 before game 41 is unacceptable.
