One thing to say...
Thank GOD for Sam Cassell.

Clips seemed to make their run when they remembered to get the ball to Brand.  He was unstoppable tonight.

Best effort...
.....I can ever remember from a Clipper team. It was beautiful. I was in a sports bar, and the fans were cheering for the Lakers, until the Clips made their run, and by the time they had the lead. the fans were yelling "Clipper Nation!"

Denver/Nooch
Alrighty.  So if they had won one of those two games, the playoffs would be decided.  I am crestfallen.

That is what sucks so bad
The insconsistency.  I'm afraid that the Clippers will finish too good for the lottery, but not good enough for the playoffs.  What a disaster that will be.

They should have beaten DEN and NOOCH.  They would be tied with the Lakers.   Such a disappointing season.  But...

That was one hell of a game last night.  CM and EB were unstoppable.  Our two stars beat their one.  And Sam did his thing late in the game to bring it home.

Can't say enough about the 4th Qtr. Defense.  That was what was missing from the DEN game.

Last night was the first night where Hart struggled in a while.  Good thing we had Sam.

Kaman sucked.  I mean, he kills Bynum getting to the rim, and blows it.  He needs to spend the summer in Mich. w/ his buddy Webber to work on his shots.

Blanket (Mobley) was not too effective on offense, but he did make Kobe work a little.  He and Q. Ross did give up 50, but it was not enough for LAL.

Speaking of Ross, he had some big rebounds in the 4th and kept Kobe from getting to the rim.

TT needs to abandon that stupid turnaround fadeaway that he never makes and stay on the perimeter.  He was terrible in the first half, but solid in the second.  Does anybody else notice how well he runs the floor on fast breaks for a big man?

Maggette, on the other hand, does not run fast breaks all that well.  One always has the feeling that he will get whistled for a charge, like I thought he would when he ran over Sasha.  He is a bull, head first.  But what a game he had.  He was unstoppable.  I'm sure the Kobette fans can't believe that he got to the line 9 more times than their idol.

One last observation.  The picture on TNT is very clear.  Don't the Clippers red uniforms look great.  For the last five years I have felt that the Clips had the best unfiorms in the NBA.  A lot better than that yellow/purple mess.

So, beat POR tonight, SAC Sunday.  Hopefully GSW drops one.  3-1 is a must, 4-0 would be better.

Go Clips.

If this win.....
....doesn't inspire them to do something special this season, nothing will!

First of all...
to suggest that Harlan and Collins are an upgrade from Lawler and Smith is a joke.  Lawler is the best in the business, and provides 95% of the fun of watching the Clippers.  (Collins is good as a color guy, and did seem to know things about the Clippers that most national broadcasters wouldn't).

Joel and Stu, on the other hand, are easily the worst.

10:30 left: Phil Jackson just did the two-pinky whistle. All he said afterward was, "Kobe!"
-that is funny

Watch the Clips more...Mobley does complain a lot, but not too much

What do the Lakers have to give up to trade for him? (Elton Brand)
-based on Laker fan myopia, I would say you would expect to get him for no more than Sasha and Cookie

1:43 left: Elton Brand just made an impossible turnaround jumper over the entire Laker defense. I have absolutely no idea how this guy isn't MVP every single year.
-because he has been stuck in Clipper hell for so long.  In terms of hustle, character and ability, there is no other player I would rather have on the Clips.  He is our MVP.

6:30 left: Corey just attempted an ill-advised blocked shot, and as a result, may naver have children again, courtesy of a knee to the jewels by Andrew Bynum.
-I couldn't have finished the game

A very entertaining read.  And yes, it does appear that after a whole season of believing that the Clippers were underachieving and the Lakers were overachieving, the teams have returned to their rightful places in LA basketball.

let's not get too excited...
The ONLY thing our team accomplished last night was not having their season end last night. They are now one-fifth of the way to making the playoffs. One more hiccup -- be it tonight (doubtful), Sunday with Sacramento (50-50), at Phoenix (very likely unless Phoenix has already clinched over the Spurs and totally shuts down), or against the Hornets (50-50), and they're out as GSW is sure to win out. Multiply the chances of winning the four games (let's say 80% x 50% x 25% x 50%) and they have about a 5% chance of winning out and sneaking in.

you are kind of a bummer
that's two blog sites you have hit with that pessimism.

While you're at it, you should mention that we are probably fighting for a first round spanking, at the expense of a lottery pick in a loaded draft.

Either way, it is fun humiliating the Lakers on their court.

LA Times cliptomaniac as well
Just a copy/paste. Not even particularly clever. For fun check out the destruction I levelled upon forumblueandgold. Doesn't take much.

They don't like you much over there
I think the unforseen stat of the night is that the Clippers got to the line more than the Lakers.

Who would have thought that Maggette would have 9 more FTA's than Kobe Bean?

um...
...you can find it as "pessimistic" as you want.  it's called reality, and one day you might want to face it.  as madonna told david letterman, "speak the truth and shame the devil."  the fact that you want to put blinders on and not see the wholesale failure of this year's team doesn't mean we all have to.

Madonna?
Really?  You're quoting Madonna to us?  Surely someone else had said something of equal relevance.  Cliff Claven is a much-better reference.
