It's Been Awhile

The last time the Clippers beat Sacramento was almost 4 years ago, January 18, 2003.

  • Alvin Gentry was the coach of the Clippers.
  • The Kings starting lineup was Peja, CWebb, Divac, Christie and Bibby.
  • Corey Maggettte and Elton Brand are the only current Clippers who were there.
  • Mike Bibby is the only current King who was there.
  • Mike Dunleavy Sr. has never beaten the Kings as coach of the Clippers.
The last time the Clippers beat the Kings in Sacramento was over 9 years ago, November 7, 1997.
  • Bill Clinton was the President.
  • Arco Arena was a state of the art facility.
  • Stojko Vrankovic (remember him?) started at center for the Clippers.
  • Former Clipper Terry Dehere started at the point for the Kings.
  • Mitch Richmond was the Kings' leading scorer.
  • Eddie Jordan was the coach of the Kings.
  • Bill Fitch was the coach of the Clippers.
  • Sam Cassell was playing for New Jersey.
  • Elton Brand was a freshman at Duke.
  • Shaun Livingston was 12 years old.
The only good news I can find in the semi-recent history of the "rivalry" is this:  in 1998, when the Clippers opened the season with 17 straight losses, their first win came against... the Kings.

It would certainly be nice to get a win.  It would kill two birds with one stone, snapping a four game losing streak and a four year losing streak.
