Sam Cassell has been winning basketball games for a long time.
He didn't win an NCAA title at Florida State, but he did take the football school to the Elite Eight in 1993. The Seminoles will honor his contributions by retiring his number 10 in a ceremony this season.
Sam went on to win titles in his first two NBA seasons as a key reserve for the Houston Rockets. (I wonder if Sam remembered to send a note to Michael Jordan, thanking him for switching to baseball those two years?) He's been with 116 teams in his NBA career, and taken every single one to the playoffs. In his last two stops, he's helped teams in Minnesota and LA acheive more success than ever before.
Congratulations, Sam. Go 'Noles!
